What can you say about one of the biggest freshwater lakes in the world that touches on huge cities like Toronto and idylic locations like Prince Edward County? Watch the ships or the ducks or just the waves.

We went there just before the fall go into full swing and the views of the lake and the distant outline of Toronto were spectacular. There is a lakeside walk which leads to several local restaurants. The air was so clean you couldn't taste it!! Lucky folk who live there

I grew up on this area. This is where summers were had and still are. On the great lakes. Lake Ontario is one of them and it is one if not the biggest. You will not get the gorgeous waters or the warmth that you would from the southern states in the USA but you will be able to spend... More

This was my first time seeing Lake Ontario. We went to Sunset Beach in St. Catherine's right as the sun was setting. It looked gorgeous and tranquil... and then we got out of the car and were nonstop fighting the flies and mosquitos. I wanted to get a closer look at the water then the flies covered our entire torso,... More

Just driving from Niagara Falls area to Toronto with the Great Lake on our right side was amazing! It's like an ocean--you literally cannot see to the other side! It's very interesting in coloration, possibly due to the content of limestone in the water? At the edges of most of the areas we saw, the water was very light and... More

I just sailed on this lake this morning in my Sunflower-rigged Super Snark. I am sure I hit 25 knots. No one was there, as all the expensive boats were still moored 10 ft above the water, a safety precaution against night time ice.

From Toronto Harbour front to Sand Banks beach, so much to see and experience. Lake Ontario is one of the largest lakes in the world and has something for everyone. Don't expect to see it all in a day, or even a week as it will take you that long just to get around it.

My wife and I made a trip completely around the lake and it was a fantastic trip. at the eastern end we went through the 1000 island area and of course we had to stay in Toronto for a few days (but we went back for a longer period for our Anniversary) of course Toronto has tons to see and... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
