This watering hole has been drawing jazz fans since it first opened in 1951. Admittedly the decor hasn't changed much since the old days, but the sounds you'll find here are cutting edge. The Rex lures top local and international talent; Tuesday is the weekly jam night.

While in Toronto I wanted to have dinner at a Jazz and Blues venue. The Rex Jazz and Blues Bar didn't disappoint! Caught two bands, the food was reasonably priced, and was surprisingly very good. It's simple menu, but everything was very good. Nice selection...More

Great music, great food, great service and an audience that appreciates all of the above. This is not your typical touristy jazz club. Nice blend of locals and out of towners that are there for the music.

Short overnight trip at the Rex hotel. Had great homemade Swiss mushroom burgers with home cut fries. Great value and delicious. Stayed for 2 jazz sets, 7pm and 9:30. Fantastic! The only cover charge was for the 9:30 show, usually $10 but hotel guests get...More

We visited Toronto for few days and, as always, we looked for live music venues where we could listen jazz and/or blues. This place was a very pleasant surprise, mainly, particularly considering the very good quality of the music. We attended the afternoon blues concert...More

We have been to the Rex a number of times for Saturday afternoon jazz. What a great time. Big band, small stage - the singer is literally standing in the entrance, which is sometimes a shock to people arriving. Great music. Very enthusiastic crowd. Good...More

Our first visit but won't be our last. Enjoyed the friendly vibe, good bar menu, no cover, and a terrific big band with vocalists. It's a huge space but the back room has low visibility to the front stage. We took a table around a...More

Enjoyed ending a business day at The Rex listening to some avant garde jazz and improvisation while chatting up some new local friends over beer and nachos. Friendly staff and good beer selection. Jazz pretty much every evening starting at 6:30; sometimes a cover, particularly...More
