A present to all visitors and residents of Montreal. A hill right in the centre of urban area allowing you to enjoy so many activities: from a simple walk, jog or a bicycle ride all year round to sledging, snowshoeing, skating (there's a skating rink at the top) and even cross-country skiing in winter! There's drinking water along the walking trail. This... More

Great and pretty large park in the heart of Montreal. Paradise for joggers, dog walkers or to have a picnic. Very busy on weekends. Lots to see: Beaver Lake, Cemetery, Horse back-riding police, many walking paths, The Cross on top, magnificent view of the city.

I think that half of Montreal was here on the first nice day after a long week of snow and cold. Parking was crazy, but once we got in, it was beautiful to walk through. View of downtown Montreal from the chalet is incredible. Worth spending a few hours here enjoying the outdoors.

We were amazed to see the cross country trails, skiers, and skaters! What a terrific facility in the middle of the city!

We took the bus up the mountain and walked down, the view is amazing even in the early spring when the trees has bare branches, would be even nicer in late spring/summer!

Nice view from the Montreal skyline. It's a nice place to walk and burn some calories. It's also good for a walk with the dog or just sit and relax.

This park is beautiful with great vistas of the city in every direction. After a two foot snow storm, everyone was out cross country skiing. It is a most remarkable park and worth a visit.

It's always a pleasure coming up here for a glorious view of the city. I came here through an icy roaded path during the night at about 2.F weather and man was it freezing up here lol. But the sight during the night of this city will leave you speechless. It's well worth the hike during the day/night

When I was there, near the beginning of the fall semester at McGill University, there were big crowds dancing around various drum circles...a festive and rather exotic activity I did not expect to stumble upon in the middle of Montreal!

Thank Mary T

Staying in Parc du Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Parc du Mont-Royal
Montreal was named for this hilly highland, where the tallest spot in the city overlooks its most extensive parkland. The greenspace of Parc du Mont-Royal is an outdoorsman's dream, with hiking trails and nature walks that cater to every season and level of athlete. In the winter, cross-country skiers, tobogganers, and ice skaters don their equipment by Beaver Lake and its pavilion, while the warmer months bring families and competitors to the pitches of Jeanne-Mance Park for tennis, soccer, football, baseball, volleyball, or a dip in the community pool. A perfect spot for a stroll or a picnic, the forest foliage is dotted with sculpture art and offers views of some of Mont-Royal's oldest edifices, the towering St. Joseph's Oratory and the mausoleums of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges. Home to musical celebrations and twilight snowshoeing alike, visit here to walk, write, rest, think, or just be.
