Inaugurated in 1876, the Mount Royal Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the highly skilled designer behind New York's Central Park. It is an ideal site for admiring a wide variety of plants and birds or for enjoying outdoor activities. Les amis de la montagne offer a variety of services and activities that provide wonderful opportunities to discover the beauty and wealth of resources that the park has to offer, including the new permanent exhibition at the Maison Smith and interactive terminals and map.

I believe same architect as Central Park, NY and Stanley Park in Vancouver, this park has it all for a central city park.

This was my second visit to Montreal. When back to Mount Royal and still the same, beautiful, snow all around, ice skating in the lake (a small for the kids and first timers), Snowboarding, fun for everyone. Access is free. Great parking.

This is a grate place to visit if you love nature. In summer you can walk and relax. In winter you can do a lot of activities, like the cross country skiing.

This is a surprisingly vast park, right in the middle of the city, full of light hiking trails. In the winter, it is a great place for Nordic skiing. There is a small lake halfway up the mountain. And not to be missed, the belvedere...More

We thought it would be fun to spend a Super Bowl Sunday afternoon outdoors in the fresh air before hunkering down for “the big game”. What an amazing time we had skating on Beaver Lake, drinking hot chocolate and snowshoeing. We brought our own skates...More

This is a must visit on a trip to Montreal, the view at the top is beautiful and great for taking photos. The trails are a wonderful escape from the city hustle and bustle and the fall leaves are perfect.

As far as I know there is no public transportation to go on top of Mount Royal, but you can go by car, though parking is limited. You could take a cab up and walk down, you will still enjoy the view and the walk is quite nice

If you can I didn't see a place. When we got to the parking area you went to a machine in the middle of the lot to purchase your parking for that time. If you can do this I'm sure they would know in the visitor center. By... More
