I would imagine in the old days, the poor would have gathered in the court yard for prayers. It's now a place to gather and people watch. There are often buskers to entertain you.

Some interesting statues around the square.Take a look at the ones to the west at either corner of the bank. At night there are some of the son il lumiere here as well.

Is courtyard directly in front of the silicate the Notre Dame is allergic opening with the water fountain in the middle that was used as a pre-ground corn nice little spot.

It's on one of Notre Dam square corners.There are two sculptures representing English snobs and difference between English and French Canadians.I did not felt offended being on English side.It is funny.

The place oozes in history. Download the app and it will give you the information on all of the buildings surrounding the square. The baskers are fantastic to listen too. What a bonus.

Most of the parking near the Basilica is street, parallel parking. Also, I know there was at least one small lot a block from the Basilica.
