Place Jacques-Cartier is a lovely old open space. On some visits to Montreal it has felt run-down and lightly neglected, but that is less of an issue for me this visit. It was a lovely walk up throuh last night from Rue St. Paul. Many...More

This should be on your "must do" list. The cobblestone, the restaurants, the shoppes, the street performers and the statues all combine for a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Lovely restaurants with good food, street entertainers. Would be great to go for the "night life." Lots of little streets off to the side with interesting shops and galleries.

It was a warm and sunny day, perfect for people-watching and taking a break. There were restaurants along the Place as well as a few vendors. It would be a good spot to sit and have lunch, an ice cream, or just a breather from...More

This is situated near many of the main attractions in Montreal and is surrounded by lots of shopping, cafes, bistros and pubs. A great place to relax and people watch as you take a break from exploring!

It's a nice place to see many old buildings. It's very calm and many tourists like to walk around there.

This square is in between the old town and the much newer central business district. It's somewhat marred by the freeway.

Old Montreal looks out on the river and the 3-4 streets parallel to the St. Lawrence are the heart of the city. City Hall stands majestically on rue Notre Dame Est as it crosses Place Jacques Cartier. This is really a broad boulevard, more than...More

The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to
