This little gem adds something new and refreshing to the Montreal nightlife scene both by its live music formula and by its warm and welcoming staff. As the name of the bar suggests, the centerpiece of the decor is a big shiny red piano which is accentuated by beautiful stonework and large inset windows overlooking the cobblestone roads outside. According... More

Great ambiance. I've been many times and am always delighted by the friendly staff and interesting connections made. The food is great and the music is even better! A "must" destination for any traveller to Montreal (but also good if you're a local and want to meet up with friends!)

This is THE place for excellent live music without the load sound. The owner is charming, smiling and she makes you feel like home.

I've been to Le Piano Rouge on a number of occasions now and it offers the complete piano bar experience. The live performances are always great, the staff is very attentive, and the atmosphere is classy and comfortable. This place attracts mostly mature clientele.

Friday night, arrived 0915ish. A few folks around, private party at the back, a couple of tables marked "Reserve", some very pretty people around, techno music from the DJ. Ordered drinks from bartender, sat at a 'non reserve' table. More arrivals, LaBatts drinking Brits, approached by newly arrived cocktail waitress, told tables are 'reserve' for Erica at 10. Piano conspicuous... More

Thank you for taking the time to address the issues you found lacking at our establishment. We value deeply all customer feedback. Please note that we have reviewed your concern of being overlooked with the staff working that night and that the Friday night show starts @ 10pm and goes almost non-stop until 2pm. More

This is a fantastic little find in the Old Port in Montreal. We spent New Year's Eve there, and it was the most fun I've had bringing in the New Year in ages. There's a red piano (of course), and live music all night, and that night they even had live Brazilian dancers. The bartender is charming and knowledgeable, and... More

I love going to piano bars when travelling. Been to some great ones in NYC and Chicago. I am writing this from a hotel piano bar in Kuwait City. Recently spent a week-end in Montreal and was attracted by a bright red piano in the window and lively music from inside. The interior is cool old montreal stone and brick.... More

We stumbled across Rue St Paul Est and into this harmonious haven. I felt a little naughty and a little nice by trying the ‘Naked Angel’ Martini. These feelings were followed by an overwhelming desire to sample the ‘Le Piano Rouge’, it tasted as sultry as the atmosphere and its rich red color melded seamlessly with the red lacquer piano... Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
