Although under construction in parts, this was nonetheless a beautiful cathedral. Well worth walking through or sitting quietly reflecting. For $2 you can light a candle and I recommend making a donation, it is well worth it.

Notre Dame is currently being restored. While it is still open I'm sure the grandeur will be much more impressive once it is completed.

Church is currently undergoing renovations. This is also a very beautiful church attracting many tourists in the Old Quebec area. There is also a section of the church that is devoted to St. Francois de Laval, one of Canada's saints.

The story of this basilica goes all the way back to the mid-1600s and is the home of the first Catholic diocese in North America. While much of the church's inner beauty is now masked do to a major renovation project, the docents tell you...More

There were renovations at the time when I visited but the Church was still open to visitors. In it I found a very peaceful place to reflect and marvel at its beauty. I have no better way to describe the altar except it's truly beautiful....More

We attended mass on Sunday morning... yes, the mass is in French, but if you're Catholic you can probably follow along. The church provides an English translation of the readings. Just a few notes: 1. The church is undergoing renovations so while it will be...More

This church is beautiful! You cannot visit Quebec City and not the notre-dame basilica. Once there you immerse in an unique blend of beautiful architecture, art, spirituality, and faith. When I was there last summer the holy door was opened as well so we passed...More

As of June 7, 2017, the whole alter (front area) is blocked off for renovation. There's a wooden crosswalk you can enter and look through square peep holes, but the view is mostly workmen on scaffolding. What is visible is the pretty painted ceiling with...More

Last week was our second trip to Montreal and the basilica. It is an amazing church, imposing yet not as knock-you-down as Chartres or Notre Dame in Paris. They have a light show in the evenings that is tremendous in its grace and effect. They...More

We will be visiting Quebec by cruise ship. I would like to know if we can walk to Notre-Dame from the cruise port.

I Believe many of these photos, and some of these reviews are for the entirely wrong church. One review is in French, and the other is in by reviewer, Two Hundred Days... Or perhaps, this is located elsewhere within the complex?

I believe the Cathedrale mentioned above is in the Old City within Quebec City. This is within walking distance from most areas of downtown near the old city. It is also a gorgeous church.
I am interested to find affordable and safe accommodation, preferably within walking distance. Thank you.

We were in Quebec City for our son's wedding in mid September. Some guests stayed just around the block from the basilica. Couldn't tell you the price or any other information, but the lady who owns the place is: Anie... More
