We participated in this very worthwhile walking tour with our young guide, Anne Marie. The stops we made provided generous portions for tasting and some interesting facts regarding the history behind the selections. As well, the walking towards each stop provided us with interesting historical facts and took us into areas we might not have found on our own. Our... More

A wonderful neighborhood full of vitality that has been the focus of much economic development in recent years. A bit off the beaten path of the traditional quebec city sights. But full of wonderful restaurants, fromagerie, tea shop, brew pubs, choclaterie, boutique clothes shopping. Downtown parks, public art and a great example of how local quebecoisse live. Find great poutine here... More

Our hotel was down here and we were very glad. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and even a supermarket here. If you are staying in the St. Roch area take the elevator at Rue de la Couronne and Rue Saint Vallier E that will save you a lot of energy going up.

Saint-Roch is coming back to a life, and much of it can be found on Rue St. Joseph. Along this stretch of blocks can be found ethnic restaurants, boutiques, bars, music venues, local breweries and all the excitement that goes with it. A few pictures are worth a few hundred words, but it's better in real life. Spend a weekend... More

Saint Roch district offers something for everyone ... or not! In the central portion of the district stands the St. Roch Church. A definite stop, the church has much beauty within. Outside, you will observe a piano, often being played by local musicians. You will observe , what some may call "street people." We had no problems, and were not... More

I was looking for another shopping area for boutiques. unfortunately my guide book mentioned St. Joseph St. The street had about two decent boutiques; but they weren't worth the 20 minute walk to get to. I didn't eat in the area, but the restaurant options were more numerous than the clothing shopping options.

We walked this street for about three blocks and found it a delightful area with many restaurants and shops. There were delightful decorations hanging overhead. Worth a visit!

Walked through this area as part of a food tour of Saint Roch. I found it an interesting district in comparison to the main part of Vieux Quebec. They are obviously trying to revitalise the area. If you have an extended time in Quebec City like I did it is worth a visit.

During a bus tour they past the church and mentioned the "shops" below the church. There was some type of neighborhood fair going on but the "shops" - all we found was one very large shop. Didn't buy anything but the church was very nice. I was told they are trying to make this more of a tourist area but... More

Our hotel was on the edge of the St. Roch district. There was some shopping but not the type that tourists are attracted to. Many bars and restaurants, definitely for a younger crowd- we are young 50s. This was a 20s scene. We walked the area at night without hesitation and felt totally safe. We encountered one "beggar" during the... More
