1. Hey travelers, Perhentian Island located at Kuala Besut, Besut District, Terengganu. 2. Perhentian Islands had two main islands and we called Perhentian Kecil (located Long Beach) and Perhentian Besar. 3. How about the transportation ? You come with a bus, taxi, ehalling or personal vehicle. How to get that ? You can come from Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bharu by express bus. 4. You can go to the express bus kiosk at the bus station (Terminal Bus Kuala Terengganu/ Kota Bharu) and ask the price and the bus will pass through Kuala Besut. 5. Some travelers like to go to Redang Island,Bidong Island or Lang Tengah Island (later I will share my experience). 6. After you reach Kuala Besut by bus, the bus will stop at Kuala Besut Station Bus (Town Kuala Besut). Or if you come with our vehicle (motorcycle or car) make sure to find parking (fee around RM 10.00 for car and motorcycle RM2.00 but if safe). 7. If you are walking in to come here, please don't walk in on the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) due to being so busy and crowded with tourists. 8. How much is the package Perhentian Island? Around RM 50 - 60 for a day trip and accommodation please use Booking.com, Trivago and so on. How much are you going to spend on accommodations? It depends on you but I suggest staying at Long Beach (crowded with travelers but you can do many things). If you want to relax, cool and private you can try at Perhentian Besar. 9. I just advised that mode of transport at Perhentian was boat or ferry and the cost was “pretty good’’. Please stay at Perhentian Kecil okay. 10. What to eat at Perhentian ? I suggest bringing some food on the island because the price is not bad. Expect , you must try BBQ with fresh seafood. Thank you, any question and please comment below.

Visited Perhentian in end of October, just before the rainy season. Weather was still great, sunny and warm (+30 deg C). Boat trip from mainland took ab. 45 min with small speedboat. PIR beach is private and perhaps the best in island. There are great snorkeling and diving areas. About 100m from the beach there is an area to spot turtles almost 1005 guarantee every day. In the end of tourist season the resort was peaceful. Everything except the kitchen worked fine. Normal weekly buffet dinner and barbecue were not available any more. Another 'minus' is wifi, that worked only in the lobby area.

In the three visits to the Perhentian Islands in the last 14 years it’s obvious that the Marine Park is being destroyed. The fee for use of the Marine Park is great. If you need to charge more for supervision then do so as it will improve things. But, there is no attempts to control the way visitors interact with the marine life. I saw a man poking the sand to find and eat a turtle egg in the park on a snorkelling trip. Two turtles had been killed by boats speeding into the bay adjacent to The Perhentian Resort on Besar. Tourists on boats are given no instruction and were touching, trying to ride turtles and standing on coral. Lack of action is destroying Malaysian heritage for this and future generations. Put a speed limit into places where turtles inhabit. Have a laneway for boats to go in and out the bays and impose a fine for speeding. Give tourists information on their ticket for the park and have tour guides have displayed the ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ of interactions with marine life. I encourage people to support best practice in the park as the last 6 years the difference has been absolutely devastating to see.
