This is the last fort of its kind and has a varied history from defence, to its attachment with the charge of the light brigade, to being the first film studio. Come and visit on our open days or events, for a guided tour, a run around or a cup of tea or cake from Food For Fort

Little tea hut is run by volunteers when they’re down there once a fortnight on a Sunday :) Check out our Facebook page and bring the kids down for a free tour :)

A few decades ago when I was a kid I used to peer into the various structures of the old fort wishing I could go inside. Unfortunately the whole place was in a poor state with everything full of shingle or smelling like a toilet....More

The fort has been beautifully built with a flint facing. The volunteers who are renovating the structure are doing a wonderful job. Let your imagination fly and you can see how the fort was like when Napolean threatened our shores.

visited here whilst on a visit to the beach, it was a nice sunny day and the family enjoyed a walk around the fort and exploring the small underground room in the bank.

A wonderful effort is being made to restore this 19th century fort to its original. Interesting associated lecture hall and museum on site. Most public holidays there are demonstrations, in period uniform etc.

Spent an afternoon at Shoreham Fort and found it really interesting. It helped that it was a beautiful sunny day but there was still room in the pay and display car park. The history of the fort is fascinating and the volunteers were happy to...More

We decided to take a Valentine's Day stroll along Shoreham Beach and ended up at the Fort. Our children loved exploring and the history of the Fort was fascinating. It's free too! A shame that the "Food for Fort" kisosk was closed. Prices looked reasonable!

We go here regularly as we live down the road. The kids love it! Loads of places to run and slide down. Great for nerf wars and Easter egg hunts! Don't expect to be entertained, it's like the 70's & 80's childhoods, you make the...More
