What a great little zoo! Fortunately it wasn't too hot the day we visited, however, there are plenty of shaded and picnic areas with barbecue facilities (a good idea to bring your own food). The various species of monkey are endlessly fascinating to watch and a talk on the newly-acquired squirrel monkeys was really interesting. The meerkat exhibition is the... More

What a Gem of a Zoo, friendly hands on with some of the animal, just to be able to rub your hands over the soft fur a Koala, to feeding the goats sheep, deers and farm animals, and giving the Camels a drink of water out of a cup, lovely picnic grounds for Families with children, so many unusual favourites of... We had a lovely visit to Hunter Valley Zoo. They have a surprisingly large range of animals, including lions, monkeys, farmyard, Australian native, and some cute meerkats. Tickets are expensive (for a large family). Undercover areas are limited if it looks like rain - so bring an umbrella if you think it's going to be wet. They have a number... More

We didn't expect to experience such a great time today at HV zoo. It's a must to do if you're close by. Lovely, very friendly staff and animals are well taken care of. It's a small zoo, but you'll definitely have great time. We will come back during school holidays.

It is enjoyable for a family, but rather expensive with few animals. This is at most 1/2 day, and young children will enjoy the petting and feeding in the zoo. Everything is done under the watchful eyes of the zookeepers, who are friendly as is the staff. The ground is dirt so sneakers would be best.

A great zoo to get up close and personal with most of the animals. Even though it was school holidays, and there were quite a few people there, it wasn't crowded and we were able to wander around and see everything without, fighting the masses like other zoos. They definitely have most native, and non native animal species covered, including... More

We have enjoyed visiting this Zoo a lot! I would highlight the professionalism of the staff. All animals are looked after, look happy. And animal talks are very interesting, with humor and you can see how people enjoy what they are doing. Very handy facilities on the territory of the park, you could easily make a day out of the... This zoo is a treasure! It has a wide variety of interesting animals (both Australian and overseas) which are all kept in clean, attractive and interesting enclosures. Staff are friendly, interested and knowledgeable.

One of our favourite places to take our children. Great set up with easy access to the animals. Knowledgeable and helpful staff in a relaxing environment. Take a picnic lunch and hang out for as long as you like.

A quite small zoo but it has quite a lot to see. It is well cared for and the animals have great areas. Lots of BBQ and picnic areas for families plus petting zoo. Lions and white ions, monkeys, beautiful birds, most Australian animals, nothing nocturnal though. Worth a visit. Family run concern. Prices ok.
