This is a great castle with beautiful grounds to walk around in. Perfect if staying at the Hotel zum Kurfurst, since it is a 2 minute walk away. Very relaxing place, never a lot of tourists, just a great place to meander in... Also, there is a super china/porcelain exhibit in the smaller castle, incredible collection of 1700 century China.... This beautiful castle complex, built by the Wittlesbachs, is in a large baroque park in the style of Versailles. The park, which is a beautiful example of baroque landscape with glittering fountains and waterways with swans, stretches between the old palace and the Lustheim Place with the New Palace in the middle. We strolled round the grounds taking in the... More

Schleissheim palace is a nice place to visit and enjoy the weekend. Easy to get there from Munich using the S Bahn (Line 1, Oberschleissheim station) then 10 min walk or by car, free parking available as well. It's a complex of three buildings, court garden and park. The new palace was the residence of the Bavarian Duke Max Emanuel... More

The palace is a beautiful jewel of the greater Munich area. It takes about 45min to get out there using a combination of trains and bus.the area it's in is very quaint and rural. There really isn't much out there besides the palace, a few residential areas, and a the train station. The palace sustained extensive damage during WWII but... More

There is the old castle which is smaller and the new castle which is just on the other side. Very nice. The park is beautiful. Ladies and gentlemen in historic gowns are having a walk in the park - phantastic photo motifs! If you have the opportunity go there for a concert. Classical music in a historical environment - just... More

We took the subway and had a fairly long walk to this palace, but it was worth the hike (and we found there was a bus nearby which saved a long walk back). There is an old palace, which is now a folk art museum, and a newer palace, which is huge and decorated with beautiful baroque ceilings. The galleries,... More

Schloss ("palace" in German) Schleissheim ist very similar to Schloss Nymphenburg, but a lot less crowded. On a sunny day it is worth taking a walk in its gardens, which are decorated with a few flowers and a big and impressive fountain. The rooms of the palace itself are also worth a visit, but even better is to watch a... More

Went to Schleißheim on a sunny weekend, expected a crowd of sun-hungry people and was pleased to discover an almost total absence of them. The palace is beautiful and is surrounded by a huge park, which is clearly taken care of. I can only recommend a delightful walk through the shadowy paths.

Seems every royal looked to do like Versailles. Same model, same sort of design, but worth a visit if only for the gardens. Beautiful. Nice place also to enjoy and relax around.

The spaces inside this palace are incredible. It was one of my most favourite palaces in Germany (I had Bayern museum card). We also happened to have the whole to ourselves. Highly recommended.
