I met 4 people at my hostel and we decided to go to the volcano together at 6.30 am. 5 of us shared a tricycle for 200 pesos. Boat was 1500 pesos because we were the first customers. Entrance fee 100 pesos each. It was an easy 1 hour climb to the crater. We took a slight detour to the... More

Taal is a great place to go, even for a day visit out of Manila. You can get a private taxi or van to take you there for about 2500 pesos and it is worth it just to get out of the heat of Manila. There are many places to stay overnight or for a few days, but in all... More

The Taal Valcano last erupted in 1977 and is still considered active. We took a smaller motor outrigger to Taal Island to a tourist area with all the things you would expect although it is pretty rustic there. Took the horse ride up the side of the volcano. It was a hot day and the horses really worked for their... More

This is a great place to visit. You travel over the lake from the mainland on a boat which is really nice and sometimes a little wet depending on the wind but fun all the same. The walk up is quite steady and not really steep but if you prefer you can take a horse ride up. I prefered to... More

After crossing Taal Lake, we are in the little city which seems fully dependent on tourism. Many horses to ride in a hard way among rocks and narrow way to reach to the top. Photographer ready to take your photo. Reach to the top with a horse rider running after the horse. Of course they look for a tip. In... More

An amazing geological formation well worth the somewhat rugged trip. Rent a horse to carry you up the steep and dusty trail; the guides can point out interesting features along the way. Good opportunity to see some rural village life at the volcano's base.
