This is an interesting and rather unusual site. The "pyramids" look like sets of discs stacked vertically, with the ruins of other buildings nearby. Some of the "pyramids" have been heavily restored, while others have been left in their ruined, tumble-down state. There is a wonderful view over the surrounding area - a large lake and mountains. The on-site museum... More

An hour outside of Guadalajara makes this a great half day trip. Only round pyramid place in Mexico. Have your car take you up to the site..otherwise a 40 degree climb of half a km. Small in size compared to other site. One hour visit without the walking up. Very UNIQUE place.

I've known about these pyramids for a few years and was finally able to see them for myself. I am very intrigued by the history of the past and especially with pyramids. I am drawn to them and am always in awe of what life must have been like back then. I was not disappointed. The place was not very... More

We visited the site on our own yesterday. The area is open 7 days a week however, the onsite museum is closed on Mondays. There wasn't a charge to enter when the museum is closed. As we drove up to the entrance, we were greeted by a Spanish only speaking employee. When she realized that we didn't speak Spanish, she... More

Good museum attached with information. Newly excavated and culture yet to be identified. Lots of pleasant walking to pyramids and ball courts. One dozen colors of obsidian found here which was a big trading item at time. Beautiful view from the hillside ruin. So glad we went....only about 1 hr from guad.

We went with a car and driver as I had read about the area. The trip shows you that close to a major city that there is vast open land and agricultural production. The pyramids are unique they are round. The site is still being excavated The surrounding vistas are worth the trip for the view-which we had to ourselves.... More

As a part of our tour of Jalisco, our tour guide took us to the Guachimontes Ruins. If your in the area you need to check it out. The ruins are a relatively new discovery, late 1990's. The site has been just partially explored, but what they have done is very impressive. We employed an English speaking guide who was... More

This is a great little archeological site about an hour drive from Guadalajara. It was more impressive than I expected. Be prepared to walk from the parking to the site for about 15 minutes. The road is uphill and it's not hard for a fit person. Wear comfortable shoes. The views of the Lake and Teuchitlan are breathtaking. I enjoyed... More

We had a very interesting & peaceful tranquil time at the pyramids..We have been to other Pyramids on the East Coast..and you could always feel the intensity of the area...They were warriors..It appears the people that lived here, were farmers..peaceful, just living off the land & soaking in the beauty surrounding them..The lush green valleys.. What a spectacular venue...A monument... More
