Gardens are well kept and follow the paths as directed by the leaflet and it is exciting. Cafe - Well Menu is fantastic. Food is well presented and the content of the salad was amazing. You can just visit to enjoy the food without paying to visit the gardens. Enjoy a lunch or afternoon tea at a reasonable price.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 June 2024

The food is soooo good and the staff are lovely, especially Dan who makes you feel so welcome. The scones with jam and cream are the best of the best. - NikkiBirmingham, United Kingdom20 contributionsLovely little gem, would returnLovely place for a peaceful walk around for an hour or so, great to see such mature and established greenery. We visited on a sunny July day but I can imagine it would still be a nice visit on a rainy day, much of the paths seem sheltered. We didn't eat or drink at the cafe but the menu looked great. Entry price reasonable, would return again at other points in the year. We also visited the nearby Trengwainton Garden on the same day and actually preferred this garden!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 July 2024
- Excursion321224451201 contributionGood refreshments and a lovely garden. My wife and I visited the garden and tea rooms on the 3rd August 2024, we had not been for about six years. The garden, although predominantly a Spring location, was still beautiful, tranquil and worth a visit. The Tearoom is excellent, the menu and daily specials provide a good selection including vegan options. We ordered sandwiches which were freshly prepared, generous portions and were accompanied by a good salad garnish. The staff are polite, friendly, efficient and make you feel welcome. This location is value for money and certainly worth a visit.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 August 2024

We visited the cafe for breakfast three times during our 10 day break and the food was lovely each time. We tried a variety of different things and it was always cooked perfectly and tasted good. The coffee is good too and so are the cakes (we always made sure to take some away with us!) What really made it for us though was the staff. They were all so friendly and took an interest in our two year old son, making sure to talk to him and smile at him and generally just making him feel included. Which goes a really long way as a parent and you don’t get it everywhere. They were also full of recommendations of different beaches to try, places to go and we had some really good chats. We go down to Sennen every year, so you can be sure that we’ll be back again!

Trewidden offers a winding way through fern gardens and rare species of flowering trees such as magnolias. A particular highlight for us was the Tree Fern Dell with a Hugh collection of towering Dixonia in rather bizarre formations. The only downside was there were very few flowering plants compared to other gardens we visited.
I would definitely recommend taking lunch at the on site cafe after strolling through the gardens, the food was delicious.

Stopped off on the way back from Lands End, utilised the Gardeners World 2 for 1 offer so a reasonable saving.
The cafe at the entrance is small, with seating area outside and is well worth a visit. Staff are exceptional and the cakes sampled along with teas were beautiful. (Flapjack and Scone).
For me it is more of an Arboreum than garden, mainly laid down to trees and shrubs, with a small cottage/walled garden. That said it is a large site to walk around with an interesting plants and areas to view. Lovely water garden in the middle. Dog friendly which is a bonus too. We'll worth a visit and would return at a different time of the year to see the changes the seasons bring.

Upon arrival, we were confronted by a very rude member of staff who asked “how many?” (No ‘hello’, or ‘good afternoon’ first!). We were a party of 4 adults and 2 children. She scoffed and said she didn’t have room and that we should have booked a table, despite it being a ‘spare of the moment’ decision on the way home.
There was no offer of a table outside, no suggestion of ‘a table will be ready on 10-15 minutes’. It felt like it was all too much effort and she just didn’t couldn’t be bothered when there was only 90 minutes left until closing time.
Very poor customer service, no apology for not being able to fit us in, and we came away feeling like she had actually told us off for not calling ahead!
We shall certainly not be visiting again. Such a shame.

Visited in Jul 21 on a very hot day (about 30 centigrade) and needed some shade!
The cafe staff were lovely and the food was very good
Entry to the garden was £7.50pp and unfortunately it wasn't worth it and very much a letdown. It's more of a woodland walk than a garden as there were very few flowers and the woodland needed some tlc but can't be easy to keep on top of it all.
So food is excellent, trees are interesting and the central pond was the highlight but if you want to see a decent spread of flowers, better to go to a garden centre!

Booked afternoon high tea,
Sandwiches, quiche and sausage rolls where lovely but the cake was very thin slices of different types of cake.. nothing special about that .
Scone's jam and cream was the highlight.
For £20 per head I would expected tea and coffee included in with the high tea price not changed extra .As for high tea prices around in local good hotels the price is the same as yours but tea / coffee included in the price ,

Lovely gardens. Accept we were not visiting when most out in bloom, but what this place has is some amazing trees. Despite the magnolias not in flower, they were mighty specimens, I’ve never seen them so big before!
One way system in place, but works well. Peaceful and tranquil, lovely spots to sit and reflect. Also the signage around the trees etc was really helpful and interesting.
We also visited the cafe for spot of lunch. It is clearly popular as most tables outside occupied, we had reserved an indoor table in any case as weather not quite warm enough for us to sit outside. Had a great Newlyn crab sandwich, that came with a robust side salad which included potato salad and cous cous. Ordered portion of fries to accompany and this was quite generous. Mum had ham, egg and chips which we thought was excellent value at £6.50.
Really recommend.

Very disappointed with our visit, especially after reading such glowing reviews. The garden itself seemed like it hadn’t been maintained for quite some time - the grass was uncut, there was moss covering the paths and most of what there was to look at seemed like overgrown wasteland. £15 for two adults feels extortionate.

The lovely cafe was the highlight here, even more than the garden. Far superior to National Trust run places and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We had lunch and then returned for tea and cake after visiting the garden. All the food was delicious and the selection of cakes was amazing. The garden has a stand of huge tree ferns and lots of other interesting trees and was nice and shady for a hot day. They accept the Gardeners World 2 for 1 card which makes it good value.

It was inclement wet weather but we decided to brave it and were pleasantly surprised as the narrow pathways dense bush and canopies of trees kept us relatively dry.We were alone not hindered and it was easy to follow the one way marked system. We passed what used to be an old quarry which is now a forest of ferns some gigantic. Some of the rhododendrons were magnificent in this sheltered garden
We read some mixed reviews about the cafe but we found it quaint and atmospheric with very friendly staff and a delicious crab sandwich and accompanying salad

The great gardens of Cornwall says a discount is applied for second place visited. Anyone have any idea who much discount?
Written 3 September 2019
Once they’ve stamped the booklet you can get a discount at many other gardens and we took advantage of that.

Are the paths around the garden wheelchair accessible?

The garden is closed until January but is then open 7 days a week.
