The tour guides come with the ticket price because many are volunteer tour guides who are actually Mayan and learned Spanish as a second language. In this case you tip them at the end for their volunteer work. This place unlike other places doesn't let...More

Bring your head lamp with elastic to go around hard hat provided. Bring 2 bottles of water, it's hot in the summer. Spray mosquito replant on the minute you get out of the car. Now you are set to have a great adventure!

Everything that has been said is true. You will get soiled, muddy, sweaty but happy. What an experience. The guide (cannot go into the cave without one-you will get lost) gives you a helmet with a light, knee pads, and gloves. You NEED to wear...More

The caves were overall a great experience, since unusual and far off the "normal" tourist attractions. Best is to get there by rental car (GPS for Google Maps: "20 43.808, -89 28.464") First we weren't sure if it is the right spot, since there were...More

Flashlights are an absolute necessity (and are provided by the Guide on site). You MUST follow the Guide step by step as there are rock overhangs and sharp steep crevices (with no railings) in the middle of the dark! Be prepared to crouch, lean, wade...More

This is worth a special trip to Tecoh with the kids (and the young-at-heart), especially if you combine it with nearby Mayapan. It's 60 pesos per adult for entry, with our 7-year old getting in for free. Helmets and flashlights (torches) are provided, and a...More

There are some very tight places in this cave, so much so that I had to crawl many times. We read the other reviews left before we went. I'm in good enough physical shape to do most anything, but I was underprepared, wearing shorts, to...More
