We stayed in an airbnb on this island, it was so quiet and peaceful. Ideal after a day with the mass of tourists in Venice. Just don't forget the vaporetto time table as there is only one every hour. easy to reach Murano and Burano.

Just a short vaporetto trip from the hustle and bustle of Venice, is this wonderful island. It has lovely walks round the island, you can either do the long way round or anti clockwise and get to the beach quicker, where you will find a...More

I'd long wanted to visit Sant'Erasmo , much taken by tales of tranquility and fields full of the fruit and vegetables I'd seen in the Rialto market . I'm very glad I finally got there. An easy 30 minute Vaporetto ride away ( Line 13...More

When you have had too much culture and are tired of the crowds in Venice take the number 13 vaporetto and escape to the country. There are three stops to get off at the island. If you get off at Campannone there is a bike...More

Fed up of the crowds of tourists and endless souvenir shops in central Venice? The island of St Erasmo could be the perfect antidote. Here you will find nothing but fields of aubergines, peppers, tomatoes and the famous St Erasmo artichokes - "the vegetable gardens...More

We went for the annual artichoke festival in May. Definitely crowded but very memorable. Nice walk from the vaporeto station to the festival (about 15 mins). Take sun protection! The island is very beautiful, definitely countryside. On the way to the pavillion and restaurant/bar you'll...More

We visited the islands of Murano and Burano and on the way home we traveled the length of the island. San Erasmo like many other islands of the lagoon outside Venice is where the actual citizens of Venice live. It was great to see the...More

This island was a pleasant boat ride from San Marco, but beware that you can't even buy a bottle of water there. We wandered for an hour or so in complete rural tranquility, then took the next vaporetto back to Venice.
