This was probably our favourite walk in the Rockies. We still managed to park even though it was early afternoon albeit a little down the road, not in the car park. Beautiful views across the lake. We decided to walk on the quieter path beside...More

While passing through the Yoho National Park via Highway 1 it is worth taking a detour visiting the lake. Since it was later in the afternoon we decided not to walk the trail but to just enjoy the view and quietness.

Easy stroll around the lake that is an incredible green color. Very busy place, or small entry area and lodge site, so all crowds are funneled into a narrow area, all jostling for good photo positioning. Still, very much worth the stop. Canoe rentals are...More

This is a beautiful place to visit and is so much less crowded than other places like Lake Louise. We took the 5.3 km walk around the lake in the reverse direction from what was signposted. In fact the section to the far end of...More

We really loved walking around this special lake. There are many in the Canadian Rockies but the color of this one sets it apart. Walk around the lake on the side opposite the buildings for great photo opportunities and fewer people!

We visited Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and Emerald Lake. Emerald Lake wasn't as dramatic as the others, but lovely and serene. Definitely with a visit.

This is a good place to go. It's a mountain lake like every other Mountain like but it's a little bit greener which is why they call it Emerald Lake. It's a pleasant time for about an hour. After that, you're going to want to...More

I don't get it why Lake Louise is popular. This place is far better. It is still crowded and parking can be difficult, but far less then Lake Louise. The views are even better and there is a nice trail around the lake. I also...More

We hiked around Emerald Lake on a sunny day on 4th August 2017. After about 10 minutes walking through the Emerald Lake resort lodges you are in the woods walking with lake views all the way (apparently we went the wrong way setting off anti-clockwise...More

My husband and I rented two canoes we shared with our two sons. My 10 year old and I canoed to the opposite end of the lake and back with the 1 hour rental. But we didn't hug the shore and do the full circumference as you're... More
