The people that run this store are very very nice. Our son and the owner connected and the necklace that our son was given by the owner never comes off his neck.

Got useful information here which helped us plan and do an efficient visit to Elliston. Bought a stuffed souvenir puffin here.

This is is the quintessential souvenir store with one of a kind carvings by local carver Mr. Hobbs. He also knows the area and can tell you just about anything about local sightseeing. Tons of local arts and crafts including locally hand knitted wool items.

By chance, on a trip 'round the shore scouting where we wanted to start our Iceberg tour*, Skipper Bob Bartlett and I popped into this place and ended up spending almost two hours chatting with Wilbur Hobbs - antler carver/artist - and Calvin - maker of jams.

To be honest, I couldn't understand what any of them were saying for the first ten minutes. And then, oh my, the stories we heard.

Wilbur really is a talented artist, his work is large AND small (so if you're worried about transporting one of the large caribou antler sculptures back, there are smaller pieces.

Calvin is very proud of his jams, his great-grandmother's recipes that use Newfoundland-grown and some Newfoundland-specific berries.

The other souvenirs and artwork for sale in the store is beautiful, as well. Do yourself a favour, stop in there. You won't regret it.

We walked the Klondike trail from North Elliston to Spillers Cove and back then went into Elliston looking for lunch. Came across this store with Wilbur in it carving polar bear figures from white marble. Absolutely beautiful and we had to have one. Wilbur added the finishing touches to the one we chose in front of us and we then spent a good forty minutes enjoying his hospitality. Lovely talented man and one of the better souvenir shops we have come across.

My friend and I were staying in Bonavista for 2 nights and decided we would wander over to Elliston because the title “Root Cellar Capital of the World” is catchy. It turns out that going to Elliston was one of the highlights of our whole 10-day trip. It’s a gorgeous little fishing village with an interesting Sealers Memorial and great place to take pictures. And we went into the Adventure Craft Store and met Wilber and he was so warm and welcoming that it really made our day. We got to see a carving demonstration and enjoyed a jam tasting. What a lovely place!

Bruce and the gang here were more than hospitable smothering all with a warm welcome. They were just getting ready to open for the season but rolled out the red carpet of information and invitation for their lovely community.
Q Tip: Do not give the John C Crosby Interpretation centre a miss.
The building has a much fresher coat of paint than in the Trip Advisor old photo.

The shop has a good selection of local gift items, especially jams that you can try before you buy. The wild blueberry was amazing. The owners are super friendly and very helpful.

Wilbur Hobbs is a great host, showing us how he signs his works and creates his work. Also has knowledge of the area and what and where to see and do. Fun to talk with, and very interesting stories.
