Such a beautiful place to visit. Cairn T is the highlight of course perched atop the highest of the hills and a key can be obtained from nearby Lough Crew Gardens. The views are incredible, you can see for miles. There are very few display boards unfortunately but you nay be lucky enough to find a guide there as I... More

We visited in mid March with a 2.5 year old toddler and 3 month old baby. We don't like doing guided tours with our children so we chose to see Loughcrew instead of Newgrange. It isn't touristy and you can view things at your own speed. There are no facilities on sight but there is a cafe at the Loughcrew... More

My Fitbit logged 97 staircases.... It was a long, long walk up muddy pasture land. Worth every step for the breathtaking view, even on a rainy day. Our tour guide had the key to get into the tomb on top. And plenty of history and legends. Only when we climbed into the very small tomb did we realize the enormity... More

to quote the bride " it was more than i could have imagined " We where a group of 20 hens who kept all details about this as a surprise for the bride. everything about this was amazing, from the initial contact with Shaun in the office ensuring all communication was up to date and arranging our requests to when... If you can, visit the cairns on a clear or sunny day as the view from it is amazing. The best part is getting there doesn't require too much effort as you'll be at the top before you know it.

A wonderful experience and in its way more impressive and less conveyor belt than Newgrange. There are dozens of passage graves clustered on two hillocks with neolithic carvings on many of them. We (and many others there on the day) were disappointed not to be able to access Cairn T (where apparantly there is a solar alignment twice a year)... More

This is a true beauty of the midlands, it's not far from Castlepollard or Oldcastle in Co. Meath. I have been here on the morning of the Spring Equinox which they celebrate here and was treated to one of the best sunrises I have ever seen. There is carparking and also a great little café just down the road a... More

Talk about a HIKE!!!!! These megalithic chambers are over 4000 bc and are the largest burial chamber passages in Ireland. You are able to go in and see the inside so it helps if you bring a little pin light to shine in the back (you can't travel deep with in). Few tips: to enter the tomb you will need... More
