An interesting castle where Richard the Lionheart was once held. More than half was rebuilt and added in the 19th and 20th century, but very much in style of the original. From the top you have a magnificent view of the surroundings and in one of the rooms you can watch an informative documentary about the history of the castle.... More

We went to visit this place because King Richard the lionhearted was imprisoned here in 1193 and being an enthusiast on the subject I had to see the place. However I thought information on the topic was sadly lacking. We could not even find out exactly where the Lionheart was held. There are just rooms after rooms - all of... More

This was a nice restored castle. Not too terrible of a hike to the top. Beautiful scenery at the top. There are toilets at the top, but no food or beverage options. Admission to the castle as well both the hotel restaurant and the little snack shop at the base are cash only. There is no ATM nearby, so be... More

This castle is well-worth a stop to see the reconstruction and replicas. It's also great fun for kids with many corners and rooms to explore, while adults appreciate the views.

A beautiful walk through the woods of pfalzelwald when you start on the parking by naturfreundehaus. It's easy, in the shade and only 3 kms slowly going up. Not steep. Wheelchairs can go closer on the next parking and it's all asphalt from there. Impressive castle and little magical. Good history and a labyrinth of stairs. Really nice to get... More

This castle is located on top of a mountain (imagine that) and requires a steep 20 minute walk from a parking lot (1.5 Euro to park). If you are disabled, you can call the castle for clearance to use the delivery road to park by the castle, but be warned, it is all stairs from there. Much of what you... More

Really nice view from top, if you follow the signs for Burgerweg, you will see the three tops on your way to ReichsburgTrifels. Nice hike;3 hours, lite till moderate hike.

After you hike up the trifels hill, you get to visit the castle. However the main highlight is the view of the beautiful surrounding valeys and hills from the rock near the castle. I could spend hours simply enjoying that splendid view!

Took a drive to see Burg Trifels today, and enjoyed the whole day. We arrived at the parking lot located at the Barbarossa Restaurant at 1:00pm, and paid €1.50 to park. The walk up to the castle isn't long 20 minutes, but it is steep in places. I enjoyed the walk up, and the views of the castle as we... More

Fully restored, and minimal entrance fees (3 euros) the walk/hike to the castle was worth it. DO NOT ATTEMPT IF YOU ARE HANDICAPPED OR IN BAD SHAPE! Views are the best for miles around. It is literally a panoramic view. Very windy on our visit in February. Throne room was amazing. Very clean restrooms. Awesome throne room! Delighted I went!
