About
Only 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, allow 2 - 3 hours for your visit to Vancouver's iconic Capilano Suspension Bridge, hanging 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River. The park offers more than just the bridge. Its surrounding 27 acres celebrate nature, history and culture in unique and thrilling ways. Cliffwalk hangs for 213m (700ft) and reaches 91m (300ft) high, hugging the granite cliffside and offering a panoramic view of the thriving rainforest and canyon far below. On Treetops Adventure walk from one magnificent old growth Douglas-fir to another on a series of seven elevated suspension bridges, reaching as high as 110 feet (33m), for a squirrel's eye view of the forest. Guides, signage and interactive exhibits throughout the park help you in your understanding of rainforest ecosystems and their sustainability.

- John DSan Francisco, California36 contributionsYou kinda have to be there and experience it firsthand, but we LOVED it.We didn’t do a ton of research, nor did we have high expectations, but WOW. Incredible experience— especially around the Holidays with all the Xmas lights/displays. Worth every penny and we’d definitely go back to experience it all again. An absolute highlight of our Vancouver trip.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 December 2022
- OzetravellersGold Coast, Australia864 contributionsMagical place not to be missedWe are so glad we did this park. with only 1 day in Vancouver it was easily worth the afternoon visit. We walked to the Hyatt regency and caught the free shuttle to the park (15 mins). We arrived at 4pm which was perfect as we got to see the park during the day and at night. we left at 7pm. The park is set in a glorious forest with gorgeous cabins as the restaurant, gift shop etc. The entire park was lit up with lights - an amazing engineering feat!! Not sure if it always has the lights or of it is just for the winter nights but it was truely magical . There is a suspension bridge which takes you to the other side of the river where there is a tree top walk . We did a free guided nature walk which was interesting and had the best hot chocolate ever at the little cabin! Don't miss this.., and go during the late afternoon to get the full effect.Visited February 2023Written 24 February 2023
- Kyrie F11 contributionsA brilliant day outA brilliant trip, could have spent all day there, even in the rain. This park was beautifully set out, plenty of space to enjoy the amazing scenery. There was a lot of really great information on the creation of the bridge. An amazing cliff walk with stunning views and informative boards. The suspension bridge and treetop trail was amazing. We joined a couple of tours and these were well worth it. A lovely shop and cafe and really friendly staff. Would highly recommend.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 March 2023
- Laurie RMontana66 contributionsFun Yet Expensive Day TripThis place was fun! It was overpriced but we all had a great time! The main suspension bridge was a trip! There are others as well. We went when it was sunny which kept the trails dry so no one slipped. I could definitely see people falling if it was damp and wet in there. This place is not handicapped friendly.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 April 2023
- KelvinDunedin, New Zealand574 contributionsVery impressive. The whole experience was pretty amazing. The bridge is one part of the park (although pretty impressive on its own) but the tree too walk is equally as good. There are nice, relatively easy walks through the park and a well stocked cafe and gift shop. Nice place to spend a few hours, if you’re not too worried about heights.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 June 2023
- Mary LLafayette, Louisiana14 contributionsReally Cool - Even in the RainThis was a great first experience in Vancouver. Even though it was raining for our visit, the gift shop handed out complimentary ponchos that allowed us to complete our visit. We crossed the suspension bridge, walked through the treetop experience and topped things off with the Cliff Walk before lunch in the restaurant there. Would highly recommend to anyone traveling and touring Vancouver.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 June 2023
- Czar EmmanuelManila, Philippines6,246 contributionsCommuning with NatureAfter visiting the Capilano River salmon hatchery, we visited this place and I really loved it! We crossed the long suspension bridge and the cliffwalk, went up to the Treetops Adventure, and relaxed in the cabins. It felt great to commune with Nature and to walk the trails in the woods. The view was simply spectacular! Highly recommended!Hi, thank you so much for the kind words and your 5 star review! - FlixBerlin, Germany13 contributionsGo for the sunset admission!Well-made and maintained park with some very impressive views (especially the cliff walk is stunning). However, the price for a normal ticket is pretty high. Instead I would recommend going for the sunset admission since it's cheaper, the park is not so crowded and the evening atmosphere gives it a nice touch.Hello, thank you for sharing your experience at the Park. We are glad you enjoyed the Cliffwalk! Our evening rate does offer 30% off all admission rates when you visit from 5 pm – close and the Park is generally less busy later in the day. - Amy DCincinnati, Ohio307 contributionsFirst Time on a Suspension Bridge with Too Many People! As other folks suggested, it gets very busy, so earlier the better. we did not do any sort of tour but drove ourselves and found parking across the street. We were there when the crowds were getting bad, so we had to wait to go on the bridge. They let WAY more people on it so I was pretty uncomfortable crossing. It was a little better on the way back because I knew what to expect. Taking photos was difficult because of the movement of the bridge and the number of people. I did manage to get one and not drop my phone! When we walked up in the trees, we were held up numerous times by tourists taking pictures and selfies. We did take advantage of the rest of the park and drove up the rode to the Salmon Hatchery and Cleveland Dam. The hatchery was very educational, and the Dam was impressive; both were beautiful. Best thing.....We were the only people at both. It's worth seeing these two sights . You have to kind of explore the paths at the Dam because they are not obvious.Hi! Thank you for the 4 star review and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback, we really appreciate it and are always looking for ways to improve! We do see busier times in the afternoon, and most guests like to visit between 12 and 2. We do recommend earlier day visits, or after 2pm if you’re hoping for a quieter experience.Written 22 August 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 August 2023
- melaVancouver6 contributionsRain or Shine - more than just a bridgeI work singing and entertaining here, and this is my first season. What I have noticed is that when I have invited friends and even family, they have cancelled when there is rain in the forecast, and so I've chosen this platform (additionally to my microphone) to tell the world that this park is gorgeous when it is raining. Some aspects of your experience are even enhanced with rain! Bonus! if you are local you can always come back on the same ticket on a sunny day in future (no extra charge if you register as a BC resident on your way out). The interactive carts (there's so much to learn!), the birds of prey (retired and let you get close!), and the music (old-timey acoustic), are all part of your full price admission. It's not just a bridge, it's a full experience you can enjoy even without a camera or phone.Vancouver rain can be relentless....we’re glad you figured out that it’s a perfect time to visit a West Coast Temperate Rainforest. It’s also pretty special to see the river wildly rushing under the bridge!Written 28 August 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 24 August 2023

We visited the suspension bridge for Canyon Lights, so this review will be based on this seasonal experience. I set my timed arrival to 3:30 so I could experience the park at dusk as it crept into the night. Upon arriving, the parking lot was pretty full. I feel I was lucky to get a spot. The parking validation lasts 3 hours, so keep that in mind as you are selecting an entrance time. When I left, the lot was completely full and I'm not exactly sure how they were managing people that had entrance tickets. As with all of Vancouver, traffic and parking is a disaster. The 3:30 slot seemed to work for this, but if you have a 6:00 time, I wish you luck. As for the event, most of the lights are on the opposite side of the bridge. Bridge wait times were minimal when I crossed at 4 but looked quite long when I made my way back across. The bridge swayed and bucked quite a bit during this busy event. Those afraid of heights may find this to be a challenge. I thought it was quite fun, however. The nature walk on the opposite side contains the best lights of the event, so be sure to experience that path. The tree top walk was nice, but was overcrowded with every single person on their phones trying to get photo and video. The lights are quite lovely and one of the better Christmas light events I've been to in recent years. The lights give off a sci-fi type feel with some of the displays looking like multi-colored eggs, for instance. Back on the main side, the cliff walk should not be forgotten as it has some nice lights on the bridges and many lights after you exit the walk. When you are done, you can pick up a free bridge crossing completion certificate from Guest Services if you are interested. I know some people knock this attraction as touristy and overpriced. If you haven't done it though, it is well worth the visit and worth the price of admission. These are great Christmas lights made better by the natural atmosphere and fun bridge elements. I definitely recommend checking out Canyon Lights, but come before dusk to minimize the chaos of crowds and parking.

GIVE CANDACE (SECURITY) A RAISE! A CHRISTMAS BONUS! Pay her mortgage off or the equivalent and give her a pony! We were having such a hard time coordinating entry with our ferry boat timings and Candace saved the day. Then my mother got confused and a bit lost, and Candace fished her out of the woods and we made it onto the last ferey home. Candace is the true essence of hospitality and such an asset to this place. We are floored. Capilano Suspension bridge is a hundred times better this year because we met Candace. And in general, the entire park staff were amazing even on a crazy peak weekend. Go! And say hi to Candace!

This place is incredible. Sky high forest surrounds you everywhere. The main bridge is a bit wobbly so keep this in mind. Was more stable when more people were on it. We went on a Tuesday morning and it was pretty quiet but saw where the queues would line up, imagine on weekends and in summer this place would be heaving. We were able to walk around the small treetop bridges completely alone as it was so quiet. Even though it was day time we could still see all of the Christmas lights. There's a free shuttle bus going from Vancouver. Also, if interested in going to Grouse mountain, there's a bus stop over the road and it's a 10 minute journey .

Way more than just a Suspension Bridge! Obviously the bridge is a highlight, swaying over the canyon as one walks across the 137 metre length! But the Treetops Adventure traversing the canopy area of the temperate forest, the Cliffwalk, the Living Forest and the Story Centre are all superb attractions within the Park area. Not having a head for heights, my favourite was the Cliffwalk as the solid structure did not move or sway as I walked! It was interesting to delve into the early history of the Park in the Story Centre. Raptor's Ridge was closed on the day we went. Amenities include toilets, 4 food outlets and a gift shop. There is a free shuttle running regularly from 3 pick up points in Vancouver City. Go early to avoid crowds. A great day exploring this coastal temperate forest.

The Capliano park is one of the main attractions to go to in Vancouver. We were staying in downtown Vancouver and they provide a complimentary shuttle bus to get you to the park. We went early although at this time of year (between Summer and Winter Seasons) things are not too busy.
The bridge itself is long and high and does sway about a bit. Fantastic views, especially this time of year with the tree all in full autumn colours.
It is a lovely area wandering through the rainforest with water rushing beneath. Aside from the bridge there is a tree top walk and a cliff walk which is a very high track protruding from the cliff face, again spectacular views. After we had completed all the amenities we visited the outside drink shack to warm up with some hot chocolate whilst waiting for the next shuttle bus.
They generally say allow 2-3 hours for it all but we found 1 to 1.5 hours was adequate to do everything - but it all depends how long you want to spend there as the scenery is stunning. A very good morning was undertaken here.

We went to the Halloween performance and were very disappointed. They charge a lot of money and all that we saw was a bunch of skeletons hanging around in the trees and on the rocks. There was no spooky music, no witches or zombies or anything of a scary nature, nothing jumping out from behind trees or or ..... Just a bunch of plastic skeletons. No wonder it is ranked amongst the worlds most expensive tourist traps by USA today.

It was magical! Fun Halloween decor and interesting history- Fairy lights everywhere in a lush tropical rainforest Safe structures and paths to explore. A little older, we weren’t sure we would be able to do the treetop bridges but they made everything accessible. Loved the Cliff Walk! Happy hour at the Cliff House was a nice ending

Take a picnic as no options for a light lunch. A nice wander around but gets very busy by lunchtime.

We purchased our tickets online the day before ($140.60, £85 for two) and took advantage of the free shuttle from a nearby hotel. We arrived at opening time.
I would advise getting here early. By the time we left, the queues to cross the bridge were fairly long. And with a lot of people on the bridge at the same time, it does move quite a lot. There were people stopping and trying to take their selfies etc, and a voice would come over the speaker asking you to keep moving. I would recommend 2-3 hours here.
Although there are places to eat here, there are no small lunch options (e.g. sandwiches) so if you eat light at lunch, take your own. We headed back to Vancouver for our lunch taking the free shuttle back down.

They have paid parking across the street from the entrance. It might be full at that time. I believe they run free shuttles from different hotels in Vancouver so that might be the best way to do it. Check their website for shuttle info.

The bridge rocks when there are many people walking on it. Best to go in spring or fall when less crowded. I am 72 and found holding onto the sides with both hands made the crossing easier

Looking ahead & making plans for next year. Is the park open on Canada Day? And if it is, is it twice as crowded because of the holiday or less because of the festivities in & around Canada Place? Thanks in advance!

I’m from Australia and I have only been there during the Christmas/New Year period when they have the Christmas lights and once with the lights and a light dusting of snow and it was beautiful. Canada Day is obviously a public holiday in Summer so my guess it would be crowded but no more than at Christmas time. They manage the crowds well and it’s never unbearable. Personally I would look at going another day and joining in the festivities of Canada Day in the city, there will be heaps to do, after all it is Canada Day. Check their website, they may do something a little bit different because it is Canada Day. Who knows they might just have all those red and white flags and maple syrup on bacon. (Love you guys eh.)
