The Grouse Grind is a difficult 1.5 mile hike that ascends 2000+ feet. It is slippery and wet--at least when we went there-- and somewhat crowded. It will take you longer than you think and you will be passed by people half your age while...More

Here's why it's soooo popular.Apparently it's like an 80s discotheque in the summer. Lots of spandex, fit bodies, and mindless behavior. But, it will challenge you physically like absolutely nothing else you will ever do voluntarily. At the point where you think"this is nuts, it...More

Try to do this hike as much as I can throughout the year with each visit trying to improve my time. You can even get a chip to log in at the bottom of the trail and scan at the top to get an official...More

A great challenge for the very fit, and a great way to blend in with the locals. Beautiful , but tough, especially in winter. It can get icy in patches, especially at the top, so crampons are recommended. I agree with another reviewer that it's...More

We are a relatively fit couple and it took us about an hour to do the grind. Signposting from the bus stop could have been better. The advice is in the title - “grind”, be prepared with trainers and some water/snacks. Once you’re at the...More

Very busy in the summer. Great to calorie burn! It's steep so be prepared, bring water and a change of clothes for the top. Great views and stay for a drink at the top :)

No doubt that this is a slog even for your pretty fit individual. That being said, you feel amazing, proud of yourself, and ready for a beer once you have arrived at the top. The hike helps affirm how gratifying it is to be alive...More

Is it easy? Slowly does it. But not advisable if you have bad knees. Is it doable? Of course. Slowly does it, did I just say? Like Nike says, if you haven't yet done it, Just Do It! I'm not an athlete by any means,...More

Managed to hike up the Grouse Grind yesterday at a decent pace, though was definitely not conditioned to run the 3.4km trail that just keeps heading up...I did it in 59 mins and that was tough, it was a beautiful clear day and around 14...More

Take ur time and enjoy the hike. I did it as fast as I could. U can do it! But definitely take water. And buy a t-shirt at the top - gives the specifics -3000 steps, etc. Have fun!
