This is a difficult hike so be prepared with water, good shoes & proper clothing as the weather can change from hot to a downpour in minutes. Should be in good shape & not suitable for young children. This is a climb up taking big steps on rough terrain. If you are prepared, it's an incredible workout!

The Grouse Grinde can be considered a hard hike as it takes on average 1-1.15 hours to reach the top and the whole path is made of natural "stone stairs". Once you get to the top though, the view is very nice and there is a place where to get hot chocolate to warm up. Remember that this is a... More

I have been 3 times up the Grouse Grind, it has actually become a competition in my family. Whenever someone from the family visits Vancouver we try and beat each others times (we are quiet competitive) Its is a very hard hike and I would not recommend it to anyone who does not enjoy hiking and climbing, as once you... Incredible workout. Very busy. Open seasonally. **Do not eat a Whitespot breakfast before attempting this unless you plan on having to stop every 10 minutes to dry-heave behind a tree* Costs money to ride the gondola/tram back down. It's been years since I've done it, but last time I did it was 10$ to ride the gondola back down (walking... More

I love challenging hikes. Definately a cardio workout as the grade is fairly steep. This one was right up my alley. Rewarded with great views of the city from the top.

We had heard this was a straight up climb, and they were right. And this is not a gradual hike on a grade, it is stepping up rocks/steps the entire way. It was crowded when we were there and we stopped several times along the way to catch our breathe briefly. My husband and I are in decent shape, and... More

We thought we were in shape. I run half marathons and just completed and second full. We went to Vancouver for our honeymoon and thought, why not some exercise? The Grouse Grind was probably not the best choice for your casual hike- we did no prior research. Crazy hard. A women breastfeeding with her infant in some baby bijorn passed... More

I, probably unwisely, did the Grouse Grind during my last visit to Vancouver. I am not in great shape so it took me a long time to hike up the mountain. Still really loved doing it. gave me a great sense of accomplishment, met some really fun people along the way and loved the views that appeared from time to... More

It is quite an experience to complete the grouse grind with younger children. But it is definitely very doable and worth it. You go throgh different terrain and the end part is definitely more steep. Mobility is important. Young kids (mine are 8 and 10) can do it if they do it with steady speed and frequent rests. It is... More
