This activity is not for the inactive couch potato and is barely for a novice hiker! It IS tough but the view and feeling of accomplishment is worth it when you're finished. This is basically a vertical climb of nothing but stairs for a almost...More

I consider myself being a slightly below average person regarding fitness.... I have no problem with "normal" hikes. But this one... oh boy! This was a tough challenge! The first quarter was torture, I had no idea if I would ever make it to the...More

We went to ride the Skyride and take in the views. It is an amazing way to travel close by the city and get in quality nature. At the top of the Skyride you will see a scenic walk with trails and interesting art and...More

Reality check: This is not an easy city hike. It is not suitable for small children- In fact, expecting small children to climb these unending rock stairs would be cruel. I was shocked to see city tourists trying to hike in flip flops and high...More

It's a great adventure and cardio workout, but if you stop and look around from time to time you most always will see some wildlife such as deer and other animals. It will be later opening this year as excessive snow on upper parts but...More

3820 steps that never get easier. Not officially open in the winter but if you ever get the chance, its work risking it to go up in the snow. Truly majestic setting while getting the SH1T knocked out of you.

Nice, steep hike with rewarding views on top. On the top is a chalet where you can buy drink or food. It can get real crowded on a trail!!

James P I'm 57 years old and not a runner or gym rat. I'm wondering how old you are? Also, tho you say you have never really hiked before, do you ever do treadmill or stairmaster? I'm trying to figure out if I can even make it so would like to compare myself with you. Also, congrats on your good time at just over an hour! Thanks for the tip on packing light. I'm assuming no bathrooms en route but I'm sure I will be sweating my water out so that won't be a problem. The website says to bring a dry tshirt since it it cooler at the top. What do you think?

Take ur time and enjoy the hike. I did it as fast as I could. U can do it! But definitely take water. And buy a t-shirt at the top - gives the specifics -3000 steps, etc. Have fun!
I am wanting know if the grouse grind hike is open for the season(2016)?
