We arrived hoping to see a large boat go through lock 3 but instead got to watch two small leisure boats go through. Kids were quite fascinated with the way the water is taken out of the lock and then the lock is refilled. The...More

On a vacation with wife. We took a drive along the canal and watched a couple of ships going through the locks. Interesting process. Just fun to see the ships up close.

This is an interesting feature of the Welland region. It is fun to be caught at a bridge and have to wait for a ship to pass through.

Lock 1 is a great and uncrowded little area to watch the ships coming through. There's a nice trail that goes along the river as well along the various locks.

The canal stretches all through Welland with paths accessible at many different spots throughout the city. Great to walk your dog's, jog, or bike. Usually not busy at all so you'll probably have the paths all to yourself.
