About
Welcome to Cape Forchu, a Light Like No Other. This spectacular and unique "apple core" lighthouse is the second most photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia and located just 10 minutes outside the Town of Yarmouth. The Cape has been welcoming visitors since 1604, when Samuel de Champlain landed and named the area "Cap Forchu," meaning "Forked tongue of land."

An 'apple core' lighthouse.

I have to be honest: it's not my favorite lighthouse out of the thousands I've seen as a New Englander and on my travels. A lighthouse that's described as an 'apple core' is not an attractive lighthouse. But, it has an interesting history and it's in a beautiful setting.

Stunning point and lighthouse, overlooking the North Atlantic.....beautiful location and easy to get to as well. It's a must see if you are in Yarmouth

The lighthouse is lovely and the landscape is magnificent offering beautiful vistas of the sunset and out over the ocean. We picked up a car in Yarmouth and took off on a driving tour of the area. Recommended.

The landscape here is amazing! The rock formations are incredible and if you actually take the time to read the interpretive boards, this is a really fascinating area of volcanic activity! If you are adventurous, climb up on the rocks and get a good view!

I can see why it’s #1 in Yarmouth

It’s a short drive outside of the main downtown area. It doesn’t take very long to walk around and see the place. There is a restaurant there but it wasn’t open when we were there. Take a pic in the supersized Adirondack chair. It’s one of the best places to go for a beautiful sunset.

Beautiful Sunset and Ocean Views.

Lovely drive from downtown Yarmouth to the tall Cape Forchu Lighthouse with apple core shape . Beautiful sunset, views of the ocean, and coast line. Lief Erickson trail has a whale skeleton, "Foggy", wide well kept paths. Interesting facts and history on the way. Easy walk. Many photo opportunities on a big red chair, in a boat, and on the hill that the light house is on. There are picnic tables.

The Cape Forchu lighthouse and Lief Erikson trail are a highlight of every trip we take to Yarmouth. Whether it’s exploring the rocky beach, enjoying a drink and lobster roll on the cafe porch, or (as a new adventure this year!) climbing to the top of the light itself, it’s one of my family’s favorite places. On our most recent Yarmouth stay, my husband started getting up early every morning to start his day walking around the lighthouse with my boys. Whether it’s figgy or sunny, misty or dry, it’s always a special place.

this is a nice light house to go and see .It is a up hill walk to get to the light house and up the stairs in the light house is a fun walk . The trail to the side is a nice walk and dog friendly
