A piece of history
Aug 2019 • Family
We visited the museum along with the Pelton-Fuller house during our stay in Yarmouth.
The museum offers a lot of insights on the local history. The collection of hand painted China was very nice. The various rooms from the basement exhibits were packed with interesting articles, including a room filled with dolls that gave my daughter a few chills.
I was very impressed by the Pelton-Fuller house and history. The student who assisted us during our visit (Emma) was very knowledgeable and friendly. The house contained many beautiful antics and treasures.
I would return to this location.

Very well organized. Lots of fascinating exhibits. The staff was helpful and considerate. The Fuller house next door was especially interesting.

Visiting this Museum was a spur of the moment decision for us, and we were pleasantly surprised by all the exhibits. We thoroughly enjoyed it to say the least, and it was the highlight of our trip to Yarmouth

Most helpful front desk. You can add this to the house tour of Mr. Fuller (Brush). Wonderful collections. Well kept up and orderly. Easy to walk around at your own pace. We have a small dog we carry on husband's back in a backpack with mesh sides. He was welcome in this way.

Former church with interesting architectural features. Be sure to look up! Stage coach in transportation display. Large ship portrait collection and local historical displays. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Recitals happen here, too.

A great little museum just jammed with all sorts of interesting local information. Spent a couple of hours there. The museum is surrounded by old sea captains painted ladies (houses) and well worth a walk around.

Excellent museum and adjoining historical home. Very well displayed and a historian present to answer questions and tell local history.

Home adjacent to the museum was owned by the gentleman that started the Fuller Brush company.

One of the Best Local Museums in Nova Scotia
Aug 2017 • Couples
At last count Nova Scotia had well over fifty separate local museums, with most of them frankly kind of boring.

Not so the Yarmouth Museum which is located just off the main street in an old church that has been added on to in order to display their artifacts in an uncluttered manner.

Arranged in chronological order it starts with the fabled Yarmouth rune stone which may or may not be a Viking relic. There is a very good collection of aboriginal artifacts as well.

The backbone of the museum is based around Yarmouth's shipbuilding past. The ship models, paintings, half hulls are the best outside the Maritime Museum in Halifax.
Also outstanding are the two stagecoaches on display, especially the Yarmouth-Tusket one which is the same model as the famed Wells Fargo stagecoaches.
At $2.50 the admission price is a bargain. This along with the nearby Fire engine museum is a perfect way to spend time on a rainy day in Yarmouth.

Nice little museum. Gives you a good taste of local history. Has a lovely exhibit of musical instrument, and contains the old light from the Cape Forchu lighthouse. Admission is free, donations are welcome. Has a nice little giftshop

Another must see in my opinion. Love the old photos. Our ancestors lived in Yarmouth and we got to relive a bit of the past.
