Established in 1971, the Sidney Museum has served the community of Sidney and North Saanich since then. Run by the Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums, the museum promotes awareness of local heritage through exhibits, programs, and collections. Its permanent collection consists of over 6000 items. In addition to its permanent exhibits, the museum also features rotating monthly exhibits. These temporary exhibits include everything from an annual Quilting display, a Teddy Bear Christmas Display, and of course the famous 3-month long Lego Exhibit. The Society of Saanich Peninsula Museums is a non-profit organization, and the Museum is open to the public by donation.

Missed out on the lego

Very typical small town museum, cover the local history with nice displays to accompany it. Entrance is by donation and volunteer run so a good cause to support. Currently the have a great Lego exhibit that is perfect for families and life long Lego fans alike!

We went for the lego exhibit but it was the wrong time of the year. Instead they had a crochet or knitting exhibit - very clever but not really our cup of tea. This is a local museum in a rather unorthodox location on the main drag (Beacon Street) with a relatively modest sign. Its located downstairs and is pretty much underground. It is not accessible to the disabled and that is too bad because its worth seeing. When we went there was an interesting exhibit on the history of Canadian currency. What... More

Thank you so much for visiting our museum, and for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate the input! Also no worries about mobility – we do follow the required spacing for people with mobility challenges, and have had it tested many times with visitors with all sorts of mobility aids (as well as strollers and the like).... Great Lego exhibit, the inner kid in me is screaming in excitement when i saw they had Starwars Lego in display. Museum is run by donation and volunteers, so drop a $5 (recommend) of $10 if you are feeling nice and $20 if you are feeling awesome!

Quite a few interactive opportunities with the exhibits and I really liked the old pictures and maps of the pre-20th century history of the area. I found the Lego STAR WARS exhibits to be artfully done, spaced evenly throughout the museum. Great and friendly staff, and admission by donation was appreciated.

My 6 year old grandson and I went to the museum and loved the lego exhibit. Hundreds of ships, airplanes and Star Wars pieces. Grandson loved it and wants to return with his Dad and Grandpa. Recommended donation is $5, so bring it with you as no change is available to break larger bills. All the pieces are behind glass... More

We enjoyed our trip through this little piece of sidney history, informative and fun for the young ones there was always something to catch your eye, we would not have known it was there but we were participating in the annual scavenger hunt and it was on the list. By donation and run by some fantastic vollenteers.

Masterful Lego creations. Apart from exhibits dealing with the history of Sidney and area, there are different Lego exhibits from time to time with various themes and the pieces are amazing. Great place to take the kids and adults also enjoy the Lego airplanes, missiles, spaceships, tanks and monsters.

Thank Dwayne R
