Took us to the middle of nowhere. given our unpleasant encounter with one of the townfolk (see my review of Bare Bones Fish restaurant) we decided to move on to more hospitable environs. Might be best to skip this area on you way to Tofino.

After having tiring day at funeral I decided to visit Stamp River. It is a beautiful place to visit and have some relaxing moments. The river flow is amazingly nice and peaceful.

We only went to the area with the fish ladder on our drive to Tofino, so didn't have a lot of time, but it was a fantastic stop! Very good presentation explaining how the fish ladder works, I had to see it to understand it!...More

Fantastic place to watch the Salmon go up the river. There is a fish ladder with underwater video and you can also see the fish trying to jump the waterfall. The campground is nice and roomy with lots of privacy.

Wear good walking shoes, boots when it rains. Watch out for very slippery rocks if you are venturing off the path. Can be quite dangerous for everyone if you get close to the river.

At the park, we witnessed the salmon run with lots of salmon trying to jump upstream! We also spotted a black bear further downstream at a comfortable distance. Beautiful place overall, a must-see for any trip to Vancouver Island!

Yep, exactly what they said ^^, the road from the entrance to the parking lot is unpaved but solid. It does get pretty dusty behind the vehicles :) Beautiful area!
