Free admission! Helpful attendants! And contained more than we expected. We enjoyed the local folk art pieces and tales from the early 20th century of the coastal telegraph line, tragic shipwrecks and giddy goings-on at nearby prewar resorts. Had fun trying to send telegrams to...More

What a relaxing hour spent walking through the exhibits. Very in depth collection of local art and artifacts. Entrance was by donation which was great.

I agree with ianjc's review below in that this little museum is an unexpected treasure in a small town. It is a display museum, and also a research museum in that the research takes time and the opening of drawers that contain artifacts. The town's...More

Many of the antique items on display once belonged to Port Alberni locals. Part of the museum is dedicated to the local First Nations history, including artifacts and artwork. The ground level is wheelchair accessible, but unfortunately the upper level is not.

I didnt find this museum interesting at all. They need to put come money into it and show things more interesting. If you want to see the history of the town then maybe its a good place to go, but that is it really.

A very nice museum with lots of native and non-native artifacts, depicting the history of Port Alberni and its surrounding areas. Well showcased, although at times the lighting was dim (for preservation purpose). Good museum for the children as well.

We took our toddler to the local library for story time and happened upon this museum afterwards. Great local history (which I was very interested in as this is my husband's home town). Beautiful collections, I think it is a diamond in the rough. We...More

I've a museum nut. I've visited them all over the world, and this is certainly in the top five for a town of this size. It is a different approach, and some people will find it challenging. Most museums have 90% of their collection stored...More
