This museum consists of ten historic buildings assembled from the area. The largest, the main building, was formerly a train station and the smallest is an ice house. The tour is self guided and there are thousands of artefacts and information boards which give a good idea of what life was like for pioneers in the area. There is one display which pays homage to the Indigenous people of the area and I would like to see more from their perspective.

My great niece was in town to visit so we decided to drop by the museum for a quick visit. Both of us were pleasantly surprised by how much local information was provided in the numerous buildings located on the grounds. The lady working there - a volunteer I assume - was friendly and informative. This was a great little visit for us! Thank you.

We entered the first building. We paid and we looked at the saws, guns, hats, an old typing machine, piano and way more.

We explored all the homes. That was fun!

Native Americans, Legion building, Furnaces, Making shoes, Rocks, Taynton's brick yard, the wagon shed, a school class, The Ice house, the Notary, Merchandise and the prison.

We had fun and it was intriguing to explore the past.

Worthwhile to see!

This is a wonderful little museum with history on locals from the surrounding area. It does not take long to go through the main museum and surrounding buildings. The museum is free with the option of donation for admittance. I would not take children under 8 as there is a lot of reading and not a lot of child entertainment.

Decided to take in the museum that we could see from our condo rental view.

We were soooo impressed with this tiny place. I live in Calgary and love Heritage Park and this was comparable on a way smaller scale.

They have documentation for every item. Tons to see and read if you are into that. A person could actually spend a whole day there reading everything they offer on each artefact and collectable.

I believe we went through 9 buildings on-site. Payment for entry is based on a contribution - no entry fee.

Well worth a visit and your time!

This nice little "pocket park" is beautifully located on the bluffs above the rail line, and a short drive from from Lake Windermere or from where the Columbia River exists the lake. For a small museum, they have a surprising large collection of pioneer cabins and buildings, the centre-piece being the gorgeous former train station, a wonderful log structure. With lots of trees and view benches, it's ideal for a brief, refreshing stop for all ages. During our stay, the inside exhibits were only open one day, and we missed it. But the outdoor exhibits were perfect for us, and the time we had. Must-see if you're spending time in the area!

Excellent display of this areas feel in historic perspective.Several old buildings restored to their original condition and connected with a wooden boardwalk. Each one has a theme and has been meticulously furnished and stocked with the eras wares. The smells and feels make you feel like you have time traveled.Allow for a few hours and remember it is a donation only site!

A good heritage park, very atmospheric. You don't even need it to be open to come, just walking around the buildings is great.
