If your in Drumheller this is worth the drive, about 10 minutes from the Museum. Good parking and breathtaking views but no guard rails so keep tight hold of the kiddies. No washrooms

You can get a nice view looking out over this canyon. The story of how it was named was interesting and there was also a couple of signs explaining that the fields of yellow we were seeing were canola growing.

Really enjoyed our exploration of Horsethief Canyon. You can drive to it and view it from the observation area or if you are a hiker you can walk through it and spend time taking in its many facets.

Access to the viewing area is right off the road. We stayed on top as the climb down was very steep but the views of the canyon and river were quite good.

We drove the North Dinosaur Trail from Drumheller out to Bleriot Ferry and back on the other side. There are a number of stopping points where you can park and view the Canyon. At the Orkney viewpoint, it looked like you could travel down a...More

It's absolutely one of the most spectacular views you'll ever find. My wife and I frequently go out there late at night to look at the stars. The air is so clear you think you're on top of the world. It's definitely worth... More
wondering how long of a hike it is total and difficulty level? We want to bring our 2 yr old son and 4 month old daughter in carriers but couldn't handle too long of a hike with them.

I think that if you and hubby are in good shape and confident hikers, you could do this with the kids in carriers. I first took my daughter who is now 16, when she was 4. We just hiked down the first part and back up again... More
