Nexpa's a great place to visit, an essential stop if you're a surfer. Nice camping at Chicho's.
Not the greatest swimming, though with baseball sized rocks thrashing around at the tideline.
The lagoon is beautiful, but a little contaminated...
There's much better swimming at Arenas Blancas, Pichilinguillo, Maruata, Faro, etc.

If you want go to beach but you're bored of the all inclusive packages at 5 stars hotels... If the polluted beaches aren't your interest... If you want to surf or you just want to scape from reality on this modern life.... Nexpa is for you.
There aren't big hotels, supermarkets, airport... But instead There are great waves, a clean beach, homely bungalows and the most friendly people on the zone.
The local people could to acquire the necessary foodstuffs to you (brought from the nearest town). But if you go to Nexpa overland, you can stop on Lázaro Cardenas city and you found several markets and services.
My recommendation: you must to bring a big cooler full with beers, and enjoy the sound of waves with a campfire on the beach

I have enjoyed two long stays at Nexpa, each time that I was there, it was for a few months. I was first there by default, as I had been first at a hotel in Caleta de Campos; I am a swimmer, and at the end of a long and ecstatically beautiful swim there, I had a swimming accident; there had been a storm the night before, and the waves were big when I got slammed. I was rescued by people in Caleta de Campos who were soon my good friends. My face was so hideous after my collision with the beach, that I changed my travel plans, and rented a cabana at Playa de Nexpa rather than driving further south along the coast. I just fell in love with Nexpa. Although I have not been there for several years, there are a number of locals who would have vidid memories of me, as I have of them,....and Nexpa.

just spent two weeks checking out all the Pacific beaches. most don't have spa or 5 star resorts. just nice place to relax or surf. but beware most beaches in michoacan have strong riptide currents. Nexpa is nice, away from it all. not many places to stay. take your food and snacks. and travel up and down the coast from km 250 in north to the south. local buses run along coast, and you can get taxi to go to other beaches

I love this beach best of all on the west coast of Mexico. It is not fancy or plastic. Rent a cabaña and swim in the lagoon. It is unspoiled and attractive and fun. We saw a movie being made there of a young woman who was the surfing champ of Brasil. Apparently, the waves there are supremo.

Out of the way not over ridden pacific paradise. Small hotel with Cabanas at Mar de Noche has the most to offer in the area. With a pool, simple but well appointed Cabanas with kitchens no a/c and hotel rooms with mini fridge and a/c. Good food on site at reasonable prices and very friendly staff all around. Chicos for the best Mango smoothie and their menu oh my! Must try! Three local stores carry most necesities. Wifi and cell service is dodgy but not terrible. Transport again the same but manageable. No atm here or in Caletta bring cash or ask locals which stores in Caletta offer cashback for a fee. I expect services will come along as demand/development does. Friendly quiet relaxing beautiful area. Surfers paradise as well, hence lots of basic cheap(some run down) cabanas about. Caletta is an 80 peso taxi ride away. Bus or taxi from Lazaro. I chose the taxi as I had a lot of luggage. You pay for convenience but overall wasn't to much considering.

Such an epic wave. Left handed rivermouth pointbreak with offshore winds every morning! Every surfer's dream! Nice and remote, amidst a sleepy village! Can not wait to revisit!

This is mainly a surf beach which seemed to attract an older crowd of surfers (50yr+) who love the sport. Various accommodations are available - rooms, cabayas, one hotel. Three restaurants or so; with Chicho's being the best. Large rivermouth where people swim as the beach break is strong. Clean, minimal trash on the beach. Lots of driftwood, esp. when river flows into the ocean.

Nice beach. great surf, the problem I can see there is that needs an authority that controls the drug use in the small cabins at the hotels, and the garbage at the beach
