Rinca Island, Komodo Island and Padar Island are the main islands of Komodo National Park. Famous for some of the world's best dive sites and their popular inhabitant - the Komodo dragon - the area attracts thousands of tourists each year. Treks on Rinca Island start from the ticket office at Loh Buaya. You also have the option to choose between three trails. The shortest trek takes 30 minutes. It is an easy, shaded walk that passes an artificial waterhole before ascending to a small hill with a view over the bay. The one-hour medium trek winds between dragon nests and out into the sunshine across an exposed savannah that is studded with lontar palms. For the best opportunity to see dragons and their prey, choose the two-hour trek past a permanent waterhole and across steep, exposed slopes that offer breathtaking views

If you are anywhere near Komodo, then you must go to see the Komodo Dragons. They exist no where else in the world. They are scary primitive creatures. We were lucky in our timing as a group there with us had arranged with the Park...More

We went to Rinca as part of a diving vacation. There were some dragons around the kitchen area of the ranger station. It was great to see them up close. We then went on a guided walk around the island. The guides were very informative...More

We took the one night two day trip aboard a converted fishing boat that made visiting Rinca and Komodo Islands a more complete adventure. The Flores sea was very scenic and the water was calm. After stopping to snorkel, we headed to Rinca Island where...More

Rinca is a good place to see Komodo Dragons of all sixes. Thankfully, the rangers recognize the importance of seeing a Komodo so they make sure everyone who visits leaves happy. We saw dragons, water buffalo, deer, monkeys, a sea eagle and an orange-legged ground...More

Similarly as on the Komodo Island you can see the Komodo dragons, the big ones, at the beginning arout the park rangers office where they laze around. You can take some walks on the different trails. The Rinca Island is more generous with other animals....More

The Ranger are very responsible. They briefed us about the trip especially how to be safe during the trip, how to anticipate, prevent and encounter dangerous situations. And during the trip they keep us safe, guard for us when we go to the bathroom, keep...More

The island is wonderful on google map and also when you sail to it. The giant lizards are in abundance and the mushrooming islands add to the beautiful setting. Take medium stroll and come to rangers kitchen in last. Hopefully you will see couple of...More

Besides 3-4 dragons laying down on their belly just below the windows of the Kitchen, there is no other dragons. I would imagine that it is almost impossible to spot one in the wild....

If you cannot go to Komodo Island, you can go to Rinca Island. We got to see some adult and baby komodos in Rinca Island. Interesting animal and place. It's highly recommended!

Hello, We want to visit Rinca island, leave very early in the morning and be back in time to catch a flight at 16:00 at Labuan Bajo airport. Is there any agency offering that? The ones We've found so far they arrive to late. Is there any way to book just the transfer to the island and not a whole tour pack? Thank you all!

Hi. We were there in August and saw heaps on both Komodo Island and Rinca Island. You'd be quite unlucky if you saw none

How easy is it to get from Ubud to Labuan Bajo and where would you stay there? It sounds like one could see dragons on Rinca, too. Correct? How much should is cost to get from LB to Rinca, and is September a good time of year (seasickness and animal viewing wise) to make such a trip? How many nights are needed in LB? Many thanks. Gene
