We went up here on a sunny day. The old lodge was amazing to see, but it is too bad it was all fenced up. There were a bunch of people inside the fence, they must have found a way in. The river was flowing hard with run-off, so didn't see the potholes, but it was still beautiful and great... More

Took our dogs for a quick swim. Great place, we chose to go when it wasn't busy. It was very nice and clean.

My kids love coming here, there's so many things to explore. You can swim in the summer or just walk around when the weather is cooler.

There is a large park area with three parking lots with walking access to the potholes area. As this is a couple of kilometers of in length there is many access points to the river. This area is also connected to the Galloping Goose trail for biking and walking - Galloping Goose trail can be started in Victoria and right... More

As I remember, it was the summer of 1950 when I first hiked up the old dusty Sooke River Road with a few friends to check out the Sooke Potholes. What a place come across! What a place to swim in the clear river water! What a place to lay out on the warm rock formations! What a place to... More

You aren't actually allowed in where the ruins are. It can be quite dangerous as there is a sheer drop off with no safeties inside. But there are spots nearby that are safer. You can walk up and down the stone steps and get a spectacular view of the ruins, potholes and rushing water. It's beautiful. Hiking was fun. Lots... More

Beautiful clean water. Variety of depths for wading and swimming. Parents need to keep an eye on kids and caution on the cliffs is essential; but use common sense and care and you have a perfect sunny swimming spot.

We stumbled upon one of the potholes by accident! We were exploring the area by car on a daytrip from Victoria... saw a sign decided to check it out. A short hike lead to a beautiful waterfall and a gorgeous clear Sinkhole. stunning!
