Having visited the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton this was another 'must' on the list. I went there during the week and was the only visitor so had the whole place to myself. The staff were busy on restoration works or maintenance so there was all sorts going on as well as just looking at their collection. I booked... More

This is a really interesting museum. The volunteers are very kind.and take the time to explain and answer any questions you have. We took the opportunity to take a flight in a double decker plain over Ottawa. A very exciting experience.

F4U Corsair - enough said. Where else can you see this plane up close and personal? Impressive collection of vintage planes and engines. Lots of history. Planes are in beautiful condition and still flying. Immaculate hangar. Close enough to downtown Ottawa. You can book a tour (over an hour) or just pop in and check it out.

This is one of the very best air museums you will find. The aircraft are all of the WW2 era or earlier and they look like the day they were manufactured. Better yet, they are still airworthy and are flown throughout the year. My tour guide, Taff, took the time to explain all about each airplane, their origins and the... More

VWoC has a collection of unique vintage aircraft. Worth a visit. Vintage Wings of Canada operates year round from its newly completed state-of-the-art hangar and maintenance facility at the Ottawa/Gatineau Airport (CYND) just 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Designed in the vernacular of early aviation facilities, this 23,000 sq ft purpose-built hangar houses not only our... More

The 2013 Wings over Gatineau-Ottawa Air Show held September 14 and 15th, featured vintage warbirds and classic aircraft from Canada and the United States. This year, Canadian astronauts Chris Hadfield and Jeremy Hansen were at the controls of the Vintage Wings Golden Hawk F-86 Sabre and were on the ground to meet and talk to visitors. The event also commemorated the... Had been a little disappointed not having time to go to the Aviation Museum in Ottawa during our trip, however, as we're driving down the highway towards Montreal in the Gatineau area, I spot this F86 doing barrel rolls beside the highway. Pulled over and then drove over to the hanger to see something beyond what I thought I'd ever... More

The Vintage Wings of Canada is located at the Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, was founded by former Cognos CEO and philanthropist Michael Potter. Once exclusively a private facility, it is now a not for profit, charitable organization, flying museum with a collection of historically significant aircraft, most in flying condition. The hangar is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for... More
