We only walked to the lower lake but what a beautiful view! Vibrant blue/green glacier lake with snow/ice topped mountains and gorgeous greenery - stunning! Definitely chilly but so worth it :)

We knew it was likely to still be frozen, but it was on our way. It was actually snowing as we walked to the lower lake, and kept up the whole time we were there. We started walking to the middle lake but turned around...More

I wish I'd known that the lakes were still frozen over & that I needed snow shoes to walk the trail. I drove out there from Whistler on May 1st thinking I'd get to see the gorgeous blue color of at least the lower 2...More

We did this trail over Easter, and did not realise there would be so much snow (up to 4 feet in places!). The lower lake is easy to walk to (5 mins from the car park), whilst the middle lake is certainly more of a...More

This is a very popular hike, so expect others on the trail. If you want to avoid crowds, follow the advice of getting out early. It's quite an uphill climb, but by the time you get to the 2nd lake, it's not that much farther...More

The lakes are a beautiful colour and the trail is easy and interesting. Unfortunately the trail is rammed with tourists midsummer. Groups of young loud tourists could be heard everywhere, even across the lake. There was no chance of hearing birdlife and hard to get...More

I am glad we did this hike. It is a 8km hike round trip. Although it doesn't sound hard it got challenging on the way to the upper joffre lake. There are three lakes lower, middle and upper and each lake just gets more and...More

Joffre lakes has been a long time local favourite. The trail is exceptional for stunning terrain in a short walk. It has become decidedly overrun however. Mid week is the best choice as weekends can find several hundred cars in the parking lots, highway etc....More

This was an unforgettable hike to the upper lake! You climb about 400mtr over 5km up to 3rd Lake. On your way you'll experience some of the best views in this area while you pass lower and 2nd lake. Some parts can be pretty steep,...More

Whow what a place! The waters are just so unbelievable. The lakes with the backdrop of the glacier is beautiful. I hope to return one day to be able to experience camping on the top of there..

Will the lakes still be frozen this weekend? I read a review saying they were still frozen in early May. We were planning to drive from Vancouver but probably wouldn't choose to go if it's still going to be frozen.

I too am very afraid of heights and didn't have any issues on this hike. I don't recall there being any big dropoffs that made me nervous (those are the worst for me!!). It is definitely an uphill climb, but it is totally... More
Hey! We hiked here last year mid-August and it was unbelievable. Do you think conditions will be similar for early September? We shouldn't expect snow in the first week of September right? Thanks!! :)
