Pick good weather for a visit as the house has stunning views as far as the sea. Lots of parking, very helpful lady at the gate who recommended the taster tour for an introduction. Good insight and well told by the guide. I also made sure I watched the film about the restoration which was fascinating. Underground tunnels for the... More

This house is in a delightful setting overlooking the South Downs and is a lovely place to spend a few hours. The grounds are not extensive but there are some interesting outbuildings to see before the main house is open and there is a nice, small garden. Of particular interest are the underground tunnels to the house linked to the... More

We watched the film of the restoration of the house from 1989's fire and were very impressed. The benefit of the fire is that everything was replaced and it all looks like new! Wonderful plasterwork, wood carvings and paint. As with all National Trust places, it is very well cared for and the gardens are superb. Well worth a visit.

My daughter and I arrived at Uppark House yesterday (Easter Sunday). When we arrived there was no signs telling us that they was charging extra for the Easter Egg Hunt, so I paid the entrance fee and went to the next hut where we was told to collect the Easter Trail from. Once I had asked for an Easter Egg... More

The house itself, only the ground floor is open, was somewhat disappointing, most of the pictures are in need of a clean! With one exception, she was somewhat abrupt and unsmiling at the entrance door when we arrived at 11am, the other volunteers were happy, pleasant and knowledgeable; and happy to talk. However, below stairs was fascinating, and well worth... More

The house burnt down in 1989 and the bottom halve has been restored to its former glory. There are many interesting tales if you discuss with the stewards. The dining room floor looks like floor boards and carpet, but the carpet and surrounding boards are actually a photograph. Look as you come through the doorway and you can see the... More

Beautiful house, not as much open as I thought there would be. The volunteers were very friendly with alot of knowledge. This was the 1st time my husband had been back since the fire. He actually worked on the roof on the carpentry side. The next day the guys doing the lead set it alight. The cafe was so slow,... More

We decided to visit Uppark house on the way home from Portsmouth. It's a lovely house and grounds and although a bit out of the way it's well worth going to see. It's not a big site so for a 2-3 hour visit it's just right.
