Where to begin? Kluane is a most beautiful and remote National Park. We camped at Kathleen Lake, which has a nice day use area and wonderful unserviced campground. Though technically just outside the boundary of the park, we boondocked (i.e., dry camping) at a roadside...More

I opted to do a road trip to this area instead of the Canadian Rockies where the bus loads of tourists roam. I've done that enough to know it ruins the experience for me. While this park is remote and it's true, the best way...More

When I stopped at the small visitors center, the rangers had spotting scopes set up so you could see thin horned sheep. I saw about 30 of them. I was so excited! Because you would never had known those white dots were large animals! It...More

OK so a flight over the park isn't possible for you - but don't let that stop you from visiting this area. Kluane Lk alone is worth the trip. The Dempster is spectacular but difficult to get time for that and the road scares a...More

The problem with Kluane is that you won't get anywhere close to the really breathtaking scenery(Mt. Logan, icefields, glaciers) without taking an expensive flightseeing trip or a really long hike. If your plan is simply driving or day hiking, you will get some nice mountain...More

This could be easily categorized as Canada's second best mountain parks (after Waterton Lakes) even though it is obviously a lot more remote than many of the others and therefore receives a lot less publicity. We approached first from the north and worked south, going...More

Basically, the west side of the Alaska Hwy, and Haines Hwy to the border of British Columbia. Lots of mountain views, although somewhat inaccessible, unless you're a hiker.

There are just no words to describe the beauty of this park. You can reach it on the Alaska Highway from Whitehorse or driving from Haines or Skagway in Alaska. We took a number of short hikes in the park, the longest was four hours...More

We travelled though and stayed at campgrounds going to and from Haines, AK. The snowcapped mountains, the beautiful lakes and spruce interspersed with the spring greens of aspens and cottonwoods was breathtaking. The Visitor Center was extremely well done and the video presentation contained some...More

Do not miss the opportunity to stop and look at the exhibits in the visitor center, outstanding video and helpful staff. My husband is drooling to come back and do some hiking in this park. There is also a smaller visitor center set up for...More

Please make sure you get bear spray and make noise while on the trail; bells are utterly useless. I was there in July with my husband and we hiked on our own and there was no problem. However the bears might be more active... More

I'd ask to be placed on a cancellation list as I find it hard to believe that you weren't able to get something from Budget. If you want to go bigger and have something to camp in try Cannadream. I believe that Subaru also... More
