We stopped off to see the lake. There are loads of different carparks all around the lake. Some of them have public toilets and playgrounds for children. There is a well marked pretty flat 10k trail all around the lake which takes about 2-3 hours...More

Good groomed trails, lots of wildlife viewing: mink, herons, eagles, peregrines, owls, frogs, lily ponds, etc. Nice trail all around the lake takes about 2-3 hours (about 10 k) to walk. Dog and horse swimming areas, good for rowers and kayakers. Check local water quality...More

Nothing more beautiful than walking/jogging around the 10km trail around Elk/Beaver Lake. Watch the wildlife - herons, ducks, geese and watch the rowers practicing their strokes on the Lake. The Canadian Men's and Women's Rowers train here so inspiring to watch them training hard.
This lake and park is outside of Victoria and you would need a car or take a bus to get there. It is the Canadian National Team Rowing Centre. Great swimming in the summer.
