Small characterful pub in Clifton

I'm not going to waffle on; this tiny pub built into the walls of a Regency terrace in Clifton is well worth a visit. It's wonderfully unmodernised, always has a good range of real ales on draft if you're into that, plus a good selection of wines by the glass. This is a small pub with a cosy atmosphere. What really makes it is the friendliness of the landlady - nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back.

Loved this place when I visited a few years back. There was no hot food available at 1600 on a Sunday, not even a bowl of chips. Bit mad considering how they market themselves. Beers were less interesting than before too. Still a great venue, love all the board games upstairs.

Sorry you found your visit to us "disappointing" With such a small kitchen we only cater for 20 Sunday roasts, some weeks we might only sell around 10 and others sell out by 1400hrs, and like a lot of pubs on Sundays only deal with roast dinners. We had sold out last week just before 1600 when the kitchen closed... More

This is a proper, traditional pub. Slightly tired in the upholstery department, but quirky, atmospheric and an insight into old Clifton.

What a find this place was. A great, proper pub, selling pickled eggs and a great range of ales and beers. A real quirky little place, great for a beer and a chat and they are dog friendly. They also have a beer garden and an upstairs. Recommend for pub connoisseurs

Stumbled on the place by accident when returning from a local restaurant to our hotel. Doesn't look much from the outside and might be slightly difficult to find but worth the effort. Popped in for a drink and just loved the atmosphere. The main bar is on road level and there is a lounge accessible from the elevated pavement or... More

Interesting little pub with two floors, good selection of beers and a small but very nice and reasonably priced menu.

The Portcullis is a very nice little pub, where dogs are allowed. The food is simple but very good - curry night in particular is a favourite. There are board games upstairs and a good range of gins and whiskies for such a small place. We love it here!

after a great meal up the road in the nearby Avon Gorge Hotel we wandered down the road and found this delightful little pub tucked in amongst the little houses. The beauty of this little pub is it has two entries up top along the terrace and the lower terrace where the bar is. If you go by the upper... More
