The Fitzwilliam has it all. A wonderful collection of paintings upstairs, a great range of artefacts downstairs and superb special exhibitions (the recent Darwin one was fascinating). All this and located in a fine building and no entrance fee. I quite often pop in just...More

I recently visited Cambridge as part of a business trip and a colleague recommended that I see the Fitzwilliam as it was showcasing a display of Indian coins. Naturally, my interest was piqued and I took up the offer. Whilst the objects themselves were fascinating,...More

This is such a great day out. Free entry but donations welcomed. You can easily spend hours here looking around.

We visited the museum on a Saturday. The staff were v helpful. It was not particularly busy. However, we came away dissatisfied with the exhibits. Little seemed to be from the last 200 years - where our interest is more directed. Despite this, we were...More

A lovely museum with well-laid out exhibits and some top-quality paintings. Furthermore, it's a manageable size - you can cover the whole museum in half a day without feeling exhausted. It's also in the centre and close to the colleges so easy to pop-in for...More

it was quite a packet of surpise. Loaded with art from France, Italy and I even spotted well preserved pieces from my country India. There is a Virginia Woolf exhibition going on which is very good. Keeo enough time and explore it.Don't miss it .

Loads to see well marked with interesting facts. We didn’t visit the painting gallery as small children really weren’t interested but the rest of the museum was well set out with plenty for everyone to look at.

This is the best kept secret in Cambridgeshire! The building is ostentatious in its architecture which was opened in 1848, well ahead of it's time! Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable too. The displays on each theme, era, or nation were clearly labelled, well lit...More

The museum isn't open on Mondays which is when we usually visit Cambridge but this time we managed to get there on Sunday! A fabulous museum with a great art gallery and we especially enjoyed the Egyptian display.
