It was a real privilege to be invited to dine at the high table, converse with distinguished scholars, & stay overnight in a charming guest suite overlooking the first courtyard & chapel. It's impossible not to be impressed & humbled by an institution with almost seven centuries of devotion to learning & teaching. A visit here unavoidably raises counterfactual speculation... More

Beautiful place, tranquil and historical. The college houses Samuel Peyps library in it's entirety. The old books and manuscript's are wonderful to see. The lady looking after library was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about it. Like most of the colleges the ground were immaculate. Definitely worth a visit.

This is one of the free colleges to visit and it is worth timing it to visit the Pepys library as well as the beautiful buildings. The lady who was looking after it was very friendly and knowledgeable about the many unique books and their historical context. So do ask her !! These are world famous books and incredibly rare.

Cambridge is a city of Colleges and Magdalene is one of the small delightful ones. Walk into the courtyard and see the delightful lodgings, past the porters lodge and into the second courtyard past the fellows dining hall ( no electricity here it all by candlelight) and then see Pepys Library. Walk round the corner to the edge of the... More

Free one unlike others so good if you have kids as paying for Kings etc not worth it as younger kids would get bored quickly. Pepys library is fascinating. Beautiful chapel.

My family was recently allowed to stroll the college discreetly while a wedding was about to happen. We very much appreciated the effort of the staff to allow us to view this magnificent and historic place. C.S. Lewis spent a long period of time here. It was inspiring to be on such grounds. Thank you!

Free to visit Magdalene - nice courtyard and chapel. The gem is the building through the courtyard housing Pepys' library. Only open 2-4pm, this is Pepys' personal library, just as he left it. Some fascinating rare books and manuscripts on display. Well worth finding.

An enchanting building and beautiful gardens. We visited this college as we had to meet a student there and were happy to see such an enchanting building. A wedding reception was being held there, so could not enter the dining rooms and the building but went around the exquisitely manicured gardens which had nicely trimmed tree statues. It was winter... More
