Ely Cathedral is a beautiful building with a lot of history and lots to see. Unfortunately, like the city of Ely, that's about all it has going for it. I was fortunate enough not to pay and I feel that paying to enter a church...More

We are not short of impressive bulidings in the UK, but Ely cathedral is exceptional. The octagon tower was built after an earlier tower collapsed. The design and actual construction is awe inspiring, considering the means available to the builders at the time, We visited...More

It's always lovely to see inside this beautiful Cathedral, they do charge to walk around, but I popped into the cafe for a quick lunch. Nice cheery staff, food ok!

Anyone who thinks this is the best has never been to either Durham, York or Canterbury, Ely is not a patch on these three, the inside is mainly drab and uninteresting with only a few exceptions, sorry Ely but not impressed.

Well worth a visit & the entrance fee - we used the online guide on the cathedral website rather than going on the ground tour and found it really useful for highlighting sites of interest. Would highly recommend the west tower tour if you can...More
