The house is full of fascinating exhibits and the audio guide was full of interesting information. I couldn't help but try on the Roundhead helmet and to play with the wooden games which were clearly aimed at children of all ages.

Doesn't have the glamour of National Trust properties so therefore shows more of how Cromwell would have lived. Not quite sure about the dummies with moving parts but thoroughly enjoyed listening to the informative and interesting audio. Good fun to vote on whether Cromwell was...More

It's a fairly small museum but worth the £5 entry. There are a few rooms with a variety of exhibits. The free audio guide is good. As a whole it gives you a good overview of the life and times of Oliver Cromwell and an...More

On a search with overseas relatives for ancestoral connections we arrived late at Ely to view Cromwells House. Staff were very accommodating and still let us explore the house despite the last tour having already left. Fascinating insight into a man some consider a villain...More

This visit helped to fill in some gaps in what I know of the history of Oliver Cromwell. The self-guided tour (with recordings) is informative. When I inquired at the gift shop if there were any cookbooks (given that in the kitchen the tour went...More

Oliver Cromwell was quite an historic figure and the question of villain or hero plays out throughout the house and self-guided tour (audio guide is included with admission). The house was in good condition but the displays could verge on being campy (Cromwell on his...More
