Whenever we are visiting a new city we like to see the cathedral or church. I had a particular wish to see Chester Cathedral, as a former work colleague had been a chorister there. We were pleasantly surprised that there is no entrance fee or...More

This imposing and magnificent building is situated in the centre of the very interesting city of Chester. The architecture is quite unusual so that alone is worth the visit. Throughout the cloisters there are a number of sculptures that are worth seeing. There are plenty...More

The architecture and the history are breathtaking, but the presentation left a lot to be desired. The "modern" folding chairs in the body of the cathedral looked tacky. Timber pews would have given some grandeur. But even worse was the sculpture exhibition scattered throughout the...More

The fabric of Chester Cathedral contains every medieval style of architecture from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic. Like most early abbeys it has been written over like a palimpsest on parchment or added to in the architectural style of that particular period. Construction of the present...More

Very nice cathedral to look around. Also nice that it is free! You could probably spend a few hours just looking at every nook and cranny here.

On 19th September my wife and I visited Chester Cathedral to see their sculptures and the church. The sculptures are made if metal or wood and some are very good, others not so in our opinion, but that is very subjective . We enjoyed looking...More

There is an enclosed courtyard that contains the Cloisters Garden. It is such a tranquil place to spend some time & the fountain is stunningly beautiful. Of course the cathedral was beautiful as well... but the garden is the hidden gem.

I certainly did use my camera. Especially on the Lego project. They are aiming to build a model of the whole of the cathedral in Lego. Pay a £1 and you can add a brick - or more if you're flush! It's really coming on and is... More
