- Cornish KrisCornwall, United Kingdom18 contributionsA hidden gem in a glorious setting. We lucked out with a glorious morning at Tanglewood. Our 3 year old daughter loved it down there, with plenty to see and do. Everywhere you look there is something quirky to catch your eye. We had some really nice coffee and the Chocolate chip rainbow cake was a big hit. The owners were very friendly and enjoyed a chat! We'll be back again very soon 👍🏻Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 April 2024
- Cathy C4 contributionsLovely garden - great for younger kids, tea/coffee, very friendly and helpful peopleLovely wild garden, particularly for younger children - lots to engage their imaginations. Tea/coffee/cake provided. Special mention for the service - I was having trouble with data signal for figuring out my next bus and the lady there (whose name I've forgotten - sorry!) was incredibly helpful and lovely. Recommend this highly.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 2 May 2024
- waxwoman2016Camborne, United Kingdom16 contributionsA hidden gemWhat a peach of a place, quiet and a haven from the madding crowd. We picked a sunny day so it was a real treat. Quirky yet calming, the home made Cake Hut victoria sponge was simply devine. Thank you for a lovely time.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 May 2024

We all had a great day and enjoyed the wildlife garden. We hope to get some good shots which we can share with you. We got lost getting to you due to our silly Sat nav but we all felt it was worth the trip especially for the delicious tea and cake! Many thanks for a truly unique trip! Highly recommended!Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 6 July 2024
- LClaytonFalmouth, United Kingdom56 contributionsBeautiful Hidden Gem with lots to exploreWe love Tanglewood!! These gardens are beautiful, relaxing & charming! There is something new to explore around every corner. There are games and treasures to keep children entertained; from tyre swings, to giant chess & hidden statues! The ducks are super friendly and even ate from our hand. The cake from the cake hut was yummy and tea in a real mug!! I really can’t recommend this place enough- it is a real hidden gem. My 8 year old son told me today (whilst lying on a net in the trees), “This place makes my heart happy”. That says it all 💕Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 September 2024

We only live about 20 miles from this and we had been hearing some really good things about it so thought let's pack up a picnic and give it a whirl.
Off we trouped, we being my son and his wife c/w daughter (3)and son (10 months), son number 2 c/w girlfriend and me and the wife and our old faithful Collie. It's £5.00 each and the kids are free, they only take cash so go prepared. We spent nearly 3 hrs wondering around and finding different things to keep us all entertained such a large area that you rarely run into others so social distancing is not an issue.
No fancy gimmicks, shops or rides just cleverly designed areas to chill oh and the bog is a compost toilet.
Would like to have seen some bins for rubbish but understand that it's better to take your rubbish home I suppose the countryside rule of take nothing but pictures leave nothing but footprints applies.

It is always a delight to visit this unique, quirky, beautifully designed and maintained "secret" garden. Perfect for families and dog friendly. Bring a picnic and spend all day if you want for £5 per adult (£2 for children, under 5s free). From magical fairy doors and small sculptures that pop out in unexpected places to stunning ponds with dragonflies and enormous fish, an aviary and giant noughts and crosses and chess games. Around each corner is a surprise, lovingly handcrafted by the talented Tony and there are plenty of benches and seats dotted throughout for a rest if needed. The car park was full to the rafters today (I counted 24 cars) but it was in no way crowded ... we only came across a handful of people and were more than able to maintain social distancing. This is West Cornwall's jewel in the crown.

I went to Tanglewood today with a friend, both of us older people on a lovely sunny Bank Holiday Monday. Last time I went it was during School term time last year in June, so that day was quiet and beautiful. This time was just as magical, busy with families, all of us looking as if we were thoroughly enjoying our day out. The children were clearly loving it, as there are simple games for them to play outside and plenty to look at.
We also loved the natural feel of the place. The lakes attract all kinds of wildlife, it was good to sit and enjoy the sunshine amongst such surroundings. Our day was completed by a lovely chat with one of the owners. We will certainly come again!

Myself and my other half found this last night by pure chance having spent the day around Penzance and St Just. So we decided to visit today and well what a stunning surprise it is. It must definitely be classed as a hidden gem 💎.
If two adult humans loved and adored the site, Our two small dogs where just the same. Plenty for them to sniff and look at and the paths are ideal for a quick doggy game of hide and seek.
Talking to the owners, who where both wonderfully hospitable, they have been working on the site for nearly 20 years and it has been open to the public for only 8. The site consists of a series of wild ponds and natural (not manicured ) planting that has such a diverse mix of birds, foul, mammals and insects. It has a series of footpaths that interlink the ponds and planting via open grass spaces and a wide range of huts, benches and a Miriam other attractions.
So many places are avaliable to sit, look and ponder. My partner noticed a couple of VERY fluffy caterpillars which she watched wander across a path and up a plant stem for 15 minutes.
The mature woodlands are filled with swings and activities for small and not so small people and there are a whole range of little fairy doors around the woods.
They also have a small ‘cake-shack’ onsite and serve a wonderful, small range of cakes, coffee, tea and soft drinks. The specialty soft drink is “Pond Juice” which we where told was freshly plucked from the ponds that morning.
It is of cause and green fruit juice but it is perfect for the site and is served with a sweet frog on cup edge as well.
All in all the best find in a week.
When we come back to Cornwall we will definitely be coming back here.

Quirky and enchanting. A magical place to entertain people of all ages. There are games for children to play and a rope swing. Little surprises appear round every corner, some funny, some sweet and endearing. We will definitely visit again. This looks to be a labour of love that our whole party enjoyed experiencing

My friend and I decided to visit Tanglewood as we were staying close by. From arrival, the place had a really positive and happy Karma. It totally exceeded our expectations. The owners have really created a very beautiful, very clever and personal environment for everyone to enjoy. Admission was very reasonable and the owners very accommodating . Highly recommend The Cake Hut for delicious cakes! Possibly not suitable for people with walking difficulties or unruly children who may disturb the tranquility.

What an amazing little find. Wild and beautiful, we had a fabulous morning exploring the hidden paths, feeding the ducks & ducklings and playing with the giant chess. Many other quirky and fun things hidden away. We would highly recommend for anyone visiting this area. Even the little bit of drizzle didn’t dampen our fun. We will definitely be returning.

Fabulous, I mean FABULOUS visit. We loved everything about Tanglewood gardens, but avoid this place at all costs if you have lost your inner child. (There’s a clue in the name). We can’t thank the owners/artist/imaginers enough for making our visit to the other end of Cornwall so joyful. We are smiling many hours later and still basking in the warmth of the welcome. Our favourite part. It’s difficult to say with so much to capture the imagination, but I particularly loved ‘beware of the crocs’. And the fairy tree. Magic.

We used a sat nav and found it really easy . It all starts from when you park I recommend keeping your eyes peeled there's so much to see . Before we paid we were taking photos. No card facilities just cash at the moment. When greeted we were told there was no where we couldn't go it was a really fun explore . We took our 8 year old and she loved finding all the quirky objects around the gardens and spotting wild life . It's abosuluty stunning and peaceful we even took a picnic as no cafe or anything . We spent two hours spotting lots of things around and playing giant games. I cant recommend this place enough . There are numerous tree swings around too that was fun even for us parents lol . Can't believe I havnt visited before today such a hidden gem for all ages

This is an unexpected gem of a place to visit for young and old. Quirky carvings and statues round every corner together with some interesting plants and trees in a wild wood setting. Very good value for money too.
