Most beautiful area !
Jul 2019
Have been coming here with family many times over the years, and cannot recommend it enough. Beautiful scenery and walks. Free car park at Dartmeet, and a fantastic restaurant there for cooked food, or a delicious cream tea

This is not a review of The Dart on Dartmoor but of Cardiff Castle steamer
Jun 2019 • Friends
Cardiff Castle paddle boat on the river Dart ads greatly to the historic ambiance of the river flowing from Totnes to Dartmouth. Queen Victoria had a preference for paddle steamers in preference to screw driven steamers as born out by her own Royal Yacht.
I did not take the paddle boat but it passed me when i was in the passenger ferry crossing the Dart.

Nice little boat trip
May 2019
Lovely scenery. We chose the short 1 hour trip up to Dittisam and then to the open sea. The captain -or whoever this was - that was describing was also quite entertaining.

Super Boat cruise to Totnes
Aug 2018 • Family
Boarded the Cardiff Castle boat to Totnes at Dartmouth. A one and a half hour brilliant cruise with an informative humorous commentary. Lots to see in terms of wildlife, scenery and places of interest. Staff are attentive, getting customers drinks and answering questions. Friendly and relaxed . We stayed at Totnes for 3 and a half hours. Great place to explore . Return trip for us was on the Cardiff Castle again . A lovely idyllic trip.

The best ferry service from Dittisham to Dartmouth
Jun 2018 • Friends
A really pleasant trip from Dittisham, taking you to the heart of Dartmouth. No worries about the narrow lanes or parking. Flexible return times that suit my activities in Dartmouth.
Friendly operators (captains) and always punctual.
Good views of Dittisham, Agatha Christie’s house and lots more on route; wild life (seals, herons, egrets etc) the odd steam train and paddle steamer.

Dartmouth trip on Cardiff Castle
Apr 2018 • Couples
After arriving in Dartmouth by train & ferry from Paignton we decided to take a boat trip. It wasn't long before we set off up the estuary. We passed Sir Walter Raleigh's Boat house & Agatha Christie's house (see photos) on the way. The scenery was lovely & the captain gave us an amusing commentary! The boat was well looked after & had recently been painted for the new tourist season. There were refreshments on board & loos were available. The whole trip lasted about an hour, to be recommended!

lovely place to visit

Dartmoor offers so much more than just a national park, take the time to explore and you will be rewarded with so much, fabulous walks, vast open tracts, may unspoilt areas to stop for a picnic, superb views and wildlife, some fantastic waterfalls and rivers.

Wide Range Of Activity From Working River to Nature Preserve
Jun 2017 • Couples
There are many ways to access the river such as with various river cruises or ferry departures. At the south end there is plenty of activity while further north it becomes very scenic and quiet. If you are under shelter, rainy days seem to be good for viewing wildlife.

Lovely River for a Sunny Day
Oct 2016 • Couples
We took the ferry (a little boat) from Dartmouth to Dittisham. A lovely 30 minute ride along the Dart through some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain.

Had coffee, a walk and then lunch in Dittisham and was picked up promptly for a return to Dartmouth leaving at 4pm. Had another smashing boat ride back into town. Much easier than taking the car. A very beautiful river. Idyllic when the sun shines.

I've included a few photos to show how lovely the river and scenery are, however you really have to see for yourself to get the full effect!
