Pretty well the only place in the city which concentrates upon and stocks a vast collection of books, CDs, and pictures relating to all features of the city's history and life. The prints are almost all by the owner artist historian Chris Robinson but the dozens of books films etc he has produced are based upon his vast range of... More

Pre-eminent amongst living Plymouth historians Chris Robinson is constantly producing more books, presentations, films, drawings and image collections on a wide range of local places and subjects. Although the Tripadvisor heading has not been updated, this business which contains all his output is now called Chris Robinson's Plymouth Shop and is in a slay but delightful old building in New... So far as I can tell, this is the only shop in Plymouth that sells things, particularly books, photographs, drawings, DVDs etc which capture and describe the city and it's history. Small well stocked shop in one of the very few old streets left.

A small but busy and well stocked family enterprise contains more images and source materiel about the present and history of Plymouth than any other shop. Hiding the listing in amongst the things to do/attractions is hiding its usefulness. Recommended. Pleasant little street too.

Small independent shop with vast stock of local drawings and range of books and DVDs on local history. Quite compact but ironically a better source of information about Plymouth and it's place in the region and nation's rough and tumble evolution than anything provided by the council. This shop is also in one of the oldest buildings in the city.

Found this through Tripadvisor although must have walked past it lots of times without noticing what it was. There is a lot of materiel here. Not just prints, framed and unframed of hundreds of local views but also dozens of books and DVDs of local themes and twentieth century local history. More here than I have ever seen in Waterstones... More

Small, family run(?), shop selling vast selection of pen drawings of local scenes. Some tinted and some in frames. Also selection of books and DVDs. Great for anyone looking for a simple souvenir or a gift. Just noticed the website too.

Came here while trailing around looking for Christmas presents. Small unassuming front room shop packed with very many prints of pen drawings of local scenes. Also a lot of books on mostly twentieth century Plymouth history. Fascinating and very approachable.

This guy has been drawing famous and ordinary parts of Plymouth for half a century. For half that he's been writing books about as it was and is. For a decade or more he's been part of a company producing videos and DVDs showing us all largely unseen historical images and movie footage of the city. Lots to learn, entertain,... More

Wide selection of local views, framed or unformed. Didn't feel like a hard sell or a ripoff, almost like they were doing it for love?
