Unfortunately I have only been able to take photographs of the outside of this stunning building as it has been closed when I have passed by. I am not sure if it is open at all now?

Great place to visit, though does need updating slightly. Council run and I think this is the problem, staff are just that staff and are not passionate about the museum.

Very interesting historical building with artifacts and story lines linked to historic people such as mayors and a display about Plymouth in ther Blitz.

This ancient building is Plymouth's finest surviving example of a 16th/17th century residence but most signs of it being a home have been lost to time. Instead it has become quite an interesting repository of items and antiques and stories that recount different periods of...More

Good value for money at £1.80 for students. On several levels, each level devoted to a particular timeframe - a mixture of different exhibits from the Elizabethian era to the 1970's. Although it's very informative, I was under the original impression I was going to...More

Thanks very much for your positive review of our historic Merchant's House. It's sister property, the Elizabethan House is laid out in the style of a merchant or sea captain's house. Best wishes.

The museum is misleadingly signposted from the main street, but once found is a real treat and its small fee excellent value - its several floors are crammed with very interesting displays and exhibits - a very good balance of interpretation and artefacts. Children will...More

Spent an enjoyable hour or so here, very interesting and informative. Shame it's so tucked away, could easily have missed it. Well worth a visit.

Old town house dating back to the time of Sir Francis Drake. Now turned into a museum with such artefacts as a ducking stool, an old prison cell and a schoolroom from Victorian times.

The outside looks intriguing but the inside museum looks tired and doesn't fulfill that promise. There are some fascinating pieces but the display feels a bit muddled. Rooms include an air raid shelter to simulate the Blitz in Plymouth and a Victorian school room which...More

What else can you do for £2.60? A lovely old building, well displayed with a wide variety of items and eras. Helpful staff. A little gem, especially if raining.
